Big changes are coming for the Museum Gift Shoppe, and we need our inventory to go!

There is a little something for everyone, so come shop our sales and pick up a new treasure for you or to share with a loved one. The Gift Shoppe is open Tuesday - Saturday until 4pm.

What else have I learned about what we do at museum?

A curator, according to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, is a person who oversees or manages a place (such as a museum or zoo) that offers exhibits. Curators are responsible for artifact accessions.

Even if you know NOTHING about duck hunting, it doesn't take more than a quick google search to see the importance of dogs in the waterfowl experience. This tribute to Mike, Edgar M. Queeny's faithful companion, hangs in the Arkansas Waterfowl Hall of Fame here at the museum.

So on this National Dog Day, we celebrate our canine friends--especially those who a part of waterfowl life!

We only have a few stops left on our tour of Arkansas Delta Byways! Today we are visiting two Helena-West Helena destinations: Cultural Center and Pillow-Thompson House.

The Delta Cultural Center has nine indoor and outdoor venues all dedicated to telling the stories of the Delta from its earliest inhabitants and settlements, the great Mississippi Floods, the Civil War, and the rich blues music heritage. The Visitors Center is broadcast home to the King Biscuit Time Radio Show--the longest running daily blues radio show in the United States. The Delta Cultural Center hosts events and educational outreach opportunities throughout the year including monthly Depot Discovery Days. On September 26, Delta Discovery Days will focus on the life of famed Marshal Bass Reeves.

The Delta Cultural Center has free admission is open Tuesday-Saturday, 9am-5pm.

Our other stop in Helena-West Helena is the Pillow-Thompson House which is owned and operated by Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas. The home was built by Jerome B. Pillow in 1896, and is the only Victorian home in Arkansas with full-wood construction. The home was given to the college in 1992 and is available for tours to the public with free admission Wednesdays-Saturdays 10am-4pm.

The home also hosts Fabulous First Thursday Luncheons monthly featuring regional caterers. There is a cost for these events and registration is required.

On this day in 1943, 55 farmers met at the Riceland Hotel where they turned a shared dream into reality by purchasing the Standard Rice Mill in Stuttgart and incorporating Producers Rice Mill.

Their vision, courage, and commitment created the foundation for a cooperative that now proudly serves over 2,000 farmer members.

Celebrating 83 years of farmer ownership, partnership, and progress.

Happy Birthday Producers! 🎉🌾
