Patrick County History Museum The museum displays hundreds of items relating to the history of Patrick County Virginia, and is a resource for genealogists seeking their family roots.

The museum is located in the same building as the Patrick County Branch Library, about a block west of the old courthouse. It holds displays of old tools, textiles, military equipment, household goods, local documents, photographs, Indian artifacts and much more ... most of them donated by members of the local community. For genealogists, there is a small library of family histories, indexes to le

gal records, and other books related to families that often go back to the first European settlement of this area. Our staff can often help people find their Patrick County connections from long ago. The museum is run by the Patrick County Historical Society, a non-profit volunteer organization, plus one part-time staff person. The Society also partners with the Reynolds Homestead in nearby Critz to present "History Around Us" talks every other month, and has at least one big meeting each year for the general public, featuring an author or speaker on some historical topic. Admission to the museum and these programs is free. Interested people can become members of the museum for $10 per year, or $20 for a family, or $100 for a life membership.
