The Singletary House Museum in Streetsboro was built in 1828. These glass bottles are older than that! They were manufactured by the Mantua Glass Company which opened in 1821.

Next Thursday, May 21st at 7:00pm the Museum will have a free program with a local expert, Brian Gray who will share his expertise on the subject of Portage County Glass.

Even if your interest is not in this particular topic, we are certain you will find Brian Gray a fascinating speaker!

If you have old glass that you would like to know more about, bring it to the meeting for Brian to look over.

Refreshments will be available, and the meeting is free!

Former President ? on the left had a cancerous lesion in his mouth removed while occupying the White House. A team of six surgeons worked for nearly 90 minutes. They used ether as the anesthesia and they removed the tumor along with about five teeth and a large part of the president's upper left jawbone.
The entire ordeal took place on a yacht that had taken the President on a 4 day "fishing trip"
Former First Lady ? on the right side was enjoying a trip to Egypt until she took a spill from the back of a camel. She suffered a severe concussion and lost her sense of smell.
Do you know who either of them are?
If you are interested in more of this sort of thing then stop by Streetsboro's Singletary House Museum this Thursday night at 7:00. We have guest speaker & author Richard McElroy coming to present his program "American Presidents and First Ladies". The program is free so come and bring your family and enjoy an interesting evening with us!
