We’re excited to share that Berry Bush by local artist Kevin Kiley recently found its new home — and during a recent visit to the gallery, Kevin brought in his newest piece: "My Drive-In Movie Theatre."

A longtime resident of Stoughton who grew up just south of here, Kevin brings a deep connection to Wisconsin’s landscapes and memories. His work beautifully captures the nostalgia and quiet charm of Midwestern life.

🎨✨ Exciting News from Overt Space! ✨🎨

Hello everyone! I’m thrilled to introduce myself as the new owner of Overt Space, your favorite creative hub in Stoughton, WI.

The past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind – getting to know the space, meeting some of the amazing artists, and connecting with the wonderful community that supports this gallery. It’s been busy, but incredibly rewarding!

I’d also like to take a moment to recognize Katherine, who built such a warm and inspiring space here. Through her passion and dedication, she brought together so many talented artists and art lovers, and I’m honored to carry that spirit forward. Katherine has been with me every step of the way during this transition, and I’ll continue to follow her vision as I take this next step. Wishing her all the best in her next chapter!

Come visit and say hi! We are now open Thu through Sun 10-5pm. I’ll be here most Saturdays and Sundays, and I’d love to meet you. 😊

I’m thrilled to introduce the new owner, Lal Chakraborty, who plans to bring a thoughtful and imaginative vision to the gallery. Having lived in Stoughton for 13 years (and now in Madison), he has a deep appreciation for the community and its creative spirit. I’m happy to share that all of our wonderful staff will be staying on, so you’ll continue to see the familiar faces you know and love. With extended hours, continued support for local artists, and fresh ideas on the horizon, the gallery will remain a welcoming space for connection, creativity, and discovery. The next chapter is sure to be an exciting one!

We are looking to expand the team! About 20 hours a week, some Saturdays required. If you or know of someone who is interested in working at Overt Space please send your resume to [email protected] :)

Come see me! ✨
It’s my last few days as the owner of Overt Space—starting Saturday, April 12th, the shop will be under new ownership!

I’m not going to make this a long goodbye, because it’s not goodbye forever. I’ll still be around - hosting artist meetups, diving deep into my new favorite things: Art Journaling and Desserts, and staying connected to the creative community we’ve built together.

Writing this is emotional - I’ve created not only a space that supported me as an artist, but also a community that welcomed so many bright, fun, and colorful people who’ve truly made my days better.

So what’s next for Katherine?
I’ll be creating from my home studio, developing new products, freelance photo styling, and spending time with my 1 and 3 year olds. You can follow me here to stay in touch! .simdon

And what’s next for the shop?
The heart of Overt Space stays the same. The new owner is excited to carry on the vision with the same amazing team and direction. It’s in good hands!

The shop will be open as usual this week, but Katherine will be in to say farewell during the following times:
Thursday (April 1st): 10am–5pm
Friday (April 2nd): 1pm–5pm
Saturday (April 3rd): 10am–5pm
Sunday (April 4th): 12pm–3pm

The shop will be closed Monday-Friday(5th-11th) next week for the transition and the new owner and I will be there Saturday the 12th. Then business will carry on as usual and I’ll also be there to help with the transition and training.

P.S. There are still some spots left for our Watercolor Class on Saturday the 12th at 10:30 with . Visit our website to sign up. :)
