Madeline Island is the largest island of the Apostle Islands, located in Lake Superior in Wisconsin. Artist is known for vibrant landscape paintings en

Alan recently acquired a piece of Stoughton History. This Sinclair Sign is from the Gas Station that was located on the corner of Main and Forrest Street.

The sign was found in a barn on a farm previously owned by the Lunde family in the Town of Pleasant Springs outside of Stoughton. The farm was established by Norwegian immigrant Helge Silversen Grimsrud in 1844 and was inherited by his daughter and her husband, Aagot and Ole Lunde, in 1879. The Lunde family owned the farm until 1978.

The sign was found in the late 1990’s lining the bottom of a wooden hay trough used to feed cattle. The sign was placed face down in the trough and served as its floor.
