Special Event: Tour of a Robert Carroll May Designed Home. Saturday August 22, 2026
Thanks to the generosity of the owner, people will have an opportunity to visit the 1955 Mid-Century Modern house at 66 Ball Hill Road in Storrs. Designed by Robert Carroll May, an architect who worked with Frank Lloyd Wright for three years, the house is notable for its open, free-form plan, extensive use of wood as an interior finish, and numerous built-in cabinets. The Hartford Courant published a feature on the house in 1957, praising its use of natural wood and the “wide and picturesque” views of the surrounding countryside. The house was built by Ed Trepal, grandfather of the current owners of Mansfield Supply.
This is a free event. Parking is available at the house. There will be two tours, one at 1:30 pm and a second at 3:00 pm, each limited to 12 participants. YOU MUST REGISTER AHEAD OF TIME through the Mansfield Historical Society’s website.
