Just across the street from the Stony Creek Museum lies a secret garden, sunken below Thimble Islands Road.

For the last decade, Joanna Radin, along with her husband Matthew Grant, have been its stewards.

In this talk, Professor Radin, who is a Historian of Science and Medicine at Yale, shares what she has come to understand about the history of this special place, created by Kurt Ramshaw nearly 50 years ago.

The talk will be published as part of a special issue of the journal Synergies on the theme of “Gardens as Sites of Reenchantment.”
