🌺🌴 **ALOHA FROM HILL COUNTRY!** 🌴🌺

Today’s extremely scientific experiment: take one doll, approximately 47 flowers, a brand-new 35mm f/1.4 lens, and run outside between rain showers. 📸🌧️🏃‍♂️💨

For science. Obviously. 🧪🤓

Everything here was shot **handheld at f/1.4**, because buying an f/1.4 lens and immediately stopping it down would demonstrate an alarming amount of maturity. 😂🔬

And I think I’m in love with this lens. ❤️📷

It isn’t brutally, clinically perfect. It has a little softness, a little personality, lovely falloff, and just enough optical weirdness to give the images some character. 🌸✨🌀

Which, naturally, means I immediately took several perfectly cheerful tropical photographs and made them look like they were discovered in a damp shoebox behind a haunted estate sale. 👻📦🕷️🎞️

Because apparently I cannot be trusted with nice things.

I thought I'd have fun with an unboxing of a Bye Bye Baby from Ideal. According to Cecily, this doll was only made in 1960. Anyway, I decided to do this unboxing in comic book format.

Now, I know AI is all the rage but this post is built upon actual dolls, actual props, actual photography, and hours long editing.

Greetings from Hill Country!

Today Toodles visits the ruins of an unfinished mansion. The story goes that the mansion was started in the 1920s but the Great Depression put a halt to construction and it was never finished.

We have some more images in an exciting, different format, which we will post tomorrow. Oh boy!

My niece does environmental work up in Alaska. She mostly flies around on helicopters and measures snowpack on glaciers. The mines, especially, want to know how much runoff they can expect in the spring. She said she needed some doll art for her office so I looked at her IG and sent her this.
