Keeping it cool! 💧 NASA Stennis’ Fred Haise Test Stand team conducted a planned flame deflector water flow system flush Oct. 22, following the recent completion of upgrades to the High Pressure Industrial Water Facility’s underground piping network. The flush, a periodic procedure to ensure system functionality and performance, involves flowing 150,000 gallons or more per minute from the High Pressure Industrial Water Facility to the stand. It also continues stand preparations for testing RS-25 flight engines for use on future Artemis missions to the Moon and beyond.
NASA Stennis congratulates the 2024 Silver Snoopy Award recipients from NASA Stennis and the NASA Shared Services Center (NSSC). NASA astronaut Reid Wiseman, who will command the Artemis II mission, presented recipients with a Silver Snoopy lapel pin flown to the International Space Station aboard the SpaceX-10 flight in 2017 and flown again aboard the SpaceX Crew-6 flight in 2023. Awardee Tessa Keating received a Silver Snoopy lapel pin flown aboard NASA’s Artemis I mission. The more than 25-day mission launched in 2022 and was the first in a series of increasingly complex missions that will enable human exploration at the Moon and future missions to Mars.
NASA’s Space Flight Awareness Program recognizes outstanding job performance and contributions by civil servants and contract employees and focuses on excellence in quality and safety in support of human spaceflight. The Silver Snoopy is the astronauts’ personal award and is presented to less than 1 percent of the total NASA workforce annually. The award is presented by a member of the astronaut corps (NASA Astronauts) representing its core principles for outstanding flight safety and mission success.
Congratulations to our 2024 Silver Snoopy Awardees!

We’re celebrating a giant leap for all of humanity with the 55th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission today! The Saturn V S-IC-6 first stage that launched Apollo 11 was tested on NASA Stennis’ B-2 Test Stand on August 13, 1968. The S-II-6 second stage was tested on the A-2 Test Stand on October 3, 1968. #Apollo11
NASA Stennis interns representing both the agency and commercial partners enjoyed a tour of Michoud Assembly Facility, known as “America’s Rocket Factory,” June 27 in New Orleans. Stay tuned for more on our interns as #NationalInternDay approaches on July 25.
E Test Complex team members enjoyed a scenic morning view ☀️ atop the E-1 Test Stand as they concluded a busy week of providing world-class test capabilities. The team looks forward to another exciting week ahead at the test complex. 🔥☁️
NASA Astronaut Mark Vande Hei's #NationalAstronautDay Message
Today marks #NationalAstronautDay, and NASA Astronaut Mark Vande Hei has a special message for the #ArtemisGeneration as NASA explores the secrets of the universe for the benefit of all.
It’s #NationalSpaceDay! NASA Stennis has a proud legacy of supporting America’s dreams of space exploration, having tested rocket engines and stages spanning the Apollo, space shuttle, and Artemis eras. Tune in for a special shout-out from NASA astronaut Mark Vande Hei to our employees!
Monday, April 22 marks #EarthDay! NASA invites you — and everyone else on the planet — to take part in a worldwide celebration of Earth Day with the agency’s #GlobalSelfie event. 🌎🤳
While NASA satellites constantly look at Earth from space, on Earth Day we’re asking you to step outside and take a picture of yourself in your corner of the world. Then post it to social media using the hashtag #GlobalSelfie.
Bonus points if your #GlobalSelfie features your favorite body of water! About 71% of our Blue Marble is covered by water, and that water is one of the main reasons why Earth is like no other planet we’ve found in this solar system, or beyond.
