Come on over to the Old Main Art Galleries to take in our latest exhibition from acclaimed Mississippi Artist Coulter Fussell.

The galleries are open Tuesday through Friday 10am-3pm and by appointment.

And yes, the AC is doing fine even in this heat.
We’ve got cold bottled water too. Just ask the Gallery staff.

Opening this Wednesday, August 12th in the Old Main Art Galleries- we are thrilled to welcome Coulter Fussell to the Department, Galleries, University, and greater community.

During her residency, Fussell will engage with students through lectures, critiques, and hands-on workshops that foreground material experimentation and the conceptual possibilities of textile-based practices. Emphasizing process, improvisation, and community-sourced materials, her approach invites students to reconsider authorship, value, and the cultural significance of making.
The residency will include a public exhibition of Fussell’s work (August 12th – September 11th) , offering audiences an opportunity to experience her immersive quilt-based installations firsthand. These works—at once intimate and expansive—collapse distinctions between personal and collective histories, weaving together fragments of lived experience into richly textured compositions that are both visually striking and deeply resonant.

The Mississippi State University Mississippi State Department of Art and Galleries are over the moon to welcome Coulter Fussell to campus this fall semester for a residency through Craft In America.

Be sure to visit her solo exhibition in the Old Main Art Galleries.

Everyday Every Day- paintings by Taggert King

Both in the Old Main Art Galleries.
Scootch on over to campus to take in the colors, textures, combinations, and air conditioning.

A free public collaborative sculpture workshop led by Wright and Swift will be held Thursday, July 30th from 2-4pm in Freeman Hall.

And then a co-reception for all three artists will held 5:30-6:30pm in Old Main.

FUN FACT! All the artwork is available for purchase!
Build (or start) your own art collection and support these phenomenal artists while you’re at it.
The Galleries do not take a commission so 100% goes to the artists. (hint hint, nudge nudge)

We’re not done yet!

Join us this Thursday afternoon from 2-4pm for a collaborative sculpture workshop with Jamele Wright, Sr and Jason Swift.

Professors Wright and Swift have a history of collaboration and are also exhibiting a number of pieces in the Old Main Art Galleries this month.

We’ll have materials, but participants are encouraged to bring up to 10 items to share with others.
