We’ve reached our window replacement project goal!!! We simply cannot say thank you enough for all the support we’ve received. The new windows will help to preserve this building for the future, and we are grateful that so many of you wanted that as well. Thank you so much!

Thanks to the dry weather this week the windows are coming along nicely. The north side is almost done and some of the west windows are in. The interior photos don't do justice to the amount of light coming in. It's looking good!

Was it a fire, a storm, or water damage that resulted in the removal of the south steeple on Old Main? There were two reported roof fires in the 1930s, but both were stopped before much damage was done. No storm or water damage was ever reported; in fact, a new roof was put on the steeple in 1920. The truth is, in July of 1927, the top of the steeple was removed due to concern that the walls may not be able to support its full weight. A flat roof took its place, and several courses of brick were also removed. No further information is available as to whether there was structural damage leading to this decision; and while apparently necessary, it was an unfortunate change to the look of the building.
