🎨🌻 A Celebration of Creativity at the Ukrainian Museum and Library of Stamford! 🌻🎨

Today, June 1st, our Museum had the wonderful privilege of welcoming the children of Barvinok, accompanied by their parents, for a very special exhibition showcasing their artistic talents and creativity.

Each student embarked on a unique mission: working together with their parents at home to create an original artwork and display it for all to see and enjoy. The result was a delightful exhibition filled with imagination, color, dedication, and heartfelt family collaboration. From carefully crafted displays to beautifully executed works of art, every piece reflected the creativity and enthusiasm of these young artists and the support of their families.
We were truly impressed by the remarkable talents on display and delighted to see the pride and excitement on the children's faces as they shared their creations with visitors. These young participants represent the future of our artistic and cultural community, and their creativity inspires us all.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the educators and staff of Barvinok for creating and nurturing initiatives like this one, which encourage artistic expression, family involvement, and a love of culture and learning. Programs like these help cultivate confidence, creativity, and a sense of community among our youngest generation.

After touring the exhibition, the children enjoyed snacks, laughter, and playtime on our beautiful front lawn, making for a joyful and memorable afternoon.

A heartfelt thank you to the Barvinok staff, the children, and their parents for making this exhibition such a wonderful success. We are honored to have hosted this inspiring display of young talent and look forward to welcoming Barvinok back to our Museum again in the future!

Сьогодні, 1 червня, наш Музей мав чудову нагоду вітати дітей із дитячого садочку Барвінок разом з їхніми батьками на особливій виставці, присвяченій їхнім мистецьким талантам та творчості.

Кожна дитина виконала особливу місію: разом зі своїми батьками вдома створити власний мистецький твір та підготувати його для виставки, щоб усі могли його побачити та оцінити. Результатом стала чудова експозиція, наповнена фантазією, яскравими барвами, старанністю та щирою родинною співпрацею. Кожна робота — від ретельно оформлених стендів до прекрасних мистецьких виробів — відображала творчий дух дітей та підтримку їхніх родин.

Ми були щиро вражені надзвичайними талантами наших юних митців і раділи, бачачи гордість та захоплення на їхніх обличчях, коли вони демонстрували свої роботи відвідувачам. Ці діти — майбутні митці та творці нашої громади, а їхня творчість надихає всіх нас.

Висловлюємо щиру подяку вихователям та працівникам садочку Барвінок за створення таких чудових ініціатив, які заохочують мистецьке самовираження, родинну співпрацю та любов до культури й навчання. Такі проєкти допомагають розвивати впевненість у собі, творчість та почуття спільноти серед наймолодшого покоління.

Після огляду виставки діти насолоджувалися смачними перекусками, веселими розвагами та іграми на галявині перед нашим Музеєм, що зробило цей день ще більш радісним та незабутнім.

Щиро дякуємо працівникам Барвінку, дітям та їхнім батькам за те, що зробили цю виставку таким великим успіхом. Для нас велика честь приймати у стінах Музею таку натхненну експозицію юних талантів, і ми з нетерпінням чекаємо нових зустрічей із садочком Барвінок у майбутньому!

🌸✨ Happy Vyshyvanka Day! — З Днем Вишиванки! ✨🌸

Today, we celebrate one of the most beautiful and meaningful symbols of Ukrainian identity and heritage — the Vyshyvanka, the traditional embroidered shirt that carries within its threads the memory, spirit, and soul of the Ukrainian people.

More than simply clothing, the Vyshyvanka is a living symbol of history, faith, resilience, and love passed down through generations. Every pattern, every color, and every stitch tells a story — stories of family, homeland, protection, hope, and the enduring strength of our culture.

Especially during these difficult times for Ukraine, Vyshyvanka Day reminds us that our traditions continue to unite Ukrainians around the world. It is a celebration of dignity, identity, and the unbreakable connection between past and present.

At the Ukrainian Museum and Library of Stamford, we proudly honor and preserve these traditions so that future generations may continue to learn about and cherish the richness of Ukrainian culture and history.

It was our great honor and joy to once again welcome the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America (UNWLA Branch 139, Stamford CT/Союз Українок Америки у Стемфорді) to the Ukrainian Museum and Library of Stamford for their district/regional meeting of the New England branches—for the second consecutive year.

This continued tradition of gathering at our Museum is a meaningful testament to the strong bond between our institutions and our shared commitment to preserving and promoting Ukrainian culture and community life. The meeting, thoughtfully led by Olha Savchuk, brought together dedicated representatives from each branch, who engaged in productive and inspiring discussions about their ongoing work, challenges, and many accomplishments.

It was truly uplifting to witness such passion, leadership, and unity among the members, all working tirelessly for the benefit of our Ukrainian-American community. Following the meeting, guests enjoyed a warm and cheerful reception filled with conversation, laughter, and the exchange of stories. These moments of fellowship are just as important as the formal discussions, strengthening friendships and reinforcing the sense of community that defines UNWLA.

We were also delighted to offer a guided tour of the Museum, for those who wished to further explore our collections and learn more about the rich history and cultural heritage we proudly preserve. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to UNWLA, to Olha Savchuk for her leadership, to all the organizers who made this gathering possible, and to every participant who contributed to its success. Your dedication, energy, and love for our heritage continue to inspire us all.

Ця добра традиція проведення зустрічей у нашому Музеї є вагомим свідченням тісного зв’язку між нашими установами та нашої спільної відданості збереженню і популяризації української культури та громадського життя.

Зустріч, яку змістовно та з увагою провела Ольга Савчук, об’єднала відданих представників кожного відділу, які взяли участь у продуктивних та натхненних обговореннях своєї діяльності, викликів і численних досягнень. Було справді надихаюче бачити таку відданість, лідерство та єдність серед учасників, які невтомно працюють задля добра українсько-американської громади.

🌸✨ Christ is Risen! Indeed He is Risen! ✨🌸

The Ukrainian Museum and Library of Stamford extends its heartfelt and prayerful greetings to all our members, friends, and supporters on this great and holy Feast of the Resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

On this radiant and sacred day, filled with light, hope, and renewal, we are reminded that life triumphs over death, light over darkness, and hope over despair. The Resurrection is not only a moment in history, but a living promise—that even after suffering, sacrifice, and loss, there is always the hope of new life.

In the spirit of our Ukrainian Eastern Christian faith, we lift our prayers to the Resurrected Christ, asking Him to look with mercy upon us, our community, and especially our beloved Ukraine. May He grant strength to her people, healing to the wounded, comfort to those who mourn, and renewal to a nation that continues to endure hardship with courage and faith. Just as Christ rose from the tomb, we pray that Ukraine too may rise—renewed, healed, and strengthened—after centuries of crucifixion, destruction, and injustice. 🕊

This Easter, we share a symbolic image of ancient, weathered hands gently holding beautifully decorated pysanky—timeless symbols of life, renewal, and resurrection. These hands represent generations who have created, protected, and preserved our faith, culture, and artistic heritage through times of great trial. As seen in the artwork, they remind us that even in hardship, our traditions endure—passed down with love, resilience, and faith. 🎨

Today, these same hands call us to responsibility: to be guardians of our heritage, preserving and passing forward what has been entrusted to us, especially when it remains under constant threat.

🌿 As we celebrate this holy feast, may our hearts be renewed with hope, our homes filled with peace, and our community strengthened in unity. May the light of the Resurrection guide us, and may our shared heritage continue to live, flourish, and inspire generations to come.

✨ A Wonderful Visit from the Stamford Suburbanites Women’s Group ✨

This past Thursday, the Ukrainian Museum and Library of Stamford had the great pleasure of welcoming 17 members of the Stamford Suburbanite Women’s Group for a special guided tour of our Museum.

Led by Carlos Semchechen and Tetiana Stanchak, the group was introduced to the rich history, traditions, and artistic heritage of Ukraine. As they moved through our galleries, guests had the opportunity to explore unique artifacts, sacred objects, folk art, and archival materials that tell the story of a resilient and vibrant culture.

It was truly meaningful to witness their curiosity, thoughtful questions, and genuine appreciation for the beauty and depth of Ukrainian heritage. Moments like these remind us why our mission, to preserve and share Ukrainian culture, is so important. Through visits like this, we continue to build bridges of understanding and keep our traditions alive for future generations.

We are deeply grateful to the Stamford Suburbanite Women’s Group for spending a few hours with us, and we hope to welcome them back again soon! 💙💛

✨ A Special Visit from the Ukrainian Heritage School of Jenkintown, PA ✨ (https://www.ukrainianheritageschool.org/)

This past Saturday, March 7, 2026, the Ukrainian Museum and Library of Stamford had the great honor of welcoming a very special group of students and teachers from the Ukrainian Heritage School in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. Their visit was a wonderful opportunity to share Ukrainian culture, history, faith, and artistic heritage with a younger generation eager to learn more about their roots.

The day began with a visit to the Chapel of Saint Basil Ukrainian Catholic Seminary, where the Rector, Rev. Father Bohdan Tymchyshyn, warmly welcomed the group. Father Bohdan introduced the students to the mission and history of the seminary and offered a meaningful explanation of the traditions and spiritual life of the Ukrainian Catholic Church. The students were especially fascinated by the beauty of the chapel as they learned about the symbolism of the icons and mosaics that reflect centuries of sacred artistic tradition.

During the visit, the students and teachers also had the pleasure of meeting Ulyana Yosypiv, President and Principal of the Ukrainian Heritage School in Stamford, Connecticut. In a touching cultural exchange, students from the Stamford school were presenting a recital of Ukrainian poems by assorted Ukrainian Poets, offering a moment of shared heritage and inspiration.

The group then continued with a guided tour of the Ukrainian Museum and Library of Stamford, beginning with an introduction by Mr. George Lencyk, who spoke about the museum’s mission to preserve, study, and share the rich artistic and cultural traditions of Ukraine. The tour was assisted by Carlos Semchechen and Tetiana Stanchak, who helped guide the students and teachers through the museum’s galleries and corridors. Students and teachers had the chance to explore our extensive collection of Ukrainian folk and fine art, discovering the stories, craftsmanship, and cultural identity reflected in each piece.

The visit concluded at the Ukrainian Library, where students and teachers were introduced to the library’s unique collection of books and historical materials. They were also able to take home duplicate books with them, helping to continue the sharing of Ukrainian knowledge and culture within their own school community.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Ted Shatinstky and President Maria Wyrsta-Mullin, whose efforts helped make this visit possible.
It was truly a joy to welcome such an enthusiastic group of students and educators. Visits like these remind us how important it is to preserve our cultural heritage and to pass it on to future generations.

Минулої суботи, 7 березня 2026 року, Український музей і бібліотека у Стемфорді мали велику честь приймати особливу групу учнів та вчителів з Української Спадщинної Школи в Дженкінтауні, Пенсильванія. 🇺🇦
Їхній візит став чудовою нагодою поділитися українською культурою, історією, вірою та мистецькою спадщиною з молодшим поколінням, яке прагне більше дізнатися про свої корені. 🌻

День розпочався відвідинами каплиці Української католицької семінарії Святого Василія, де гостей тепло привітав ректор семінарії, о. Богдан Тимчишин. ⛪
Отець Богдан розповів учням про місію та історію семінарії, а також поділився поясненнями щодо традицій і духовного життя Української Католицької Церкви. Особливе захоплення у студентів викликала краса каплиці, коли вони дізналися про символіку ікон та мозаїк, які відображають століття священної мистецької традиції. 🎨

Під час візиту учні та вчителі також мали приємність зустрітися з Уляною Йосипів, президентом та директоркою Української Спадщинної Школи у Стемфорді, штат Коннектикут. 📚
У рамках теплого культурного обміну учні зі школи у Стемфорді представили декламацію українських поезій різних українських поетів, подарувавши присутнім зворушливий момент спільної спадщини та натхнення. 📖✨

Після цього група продовжила екскурсію Українським музеєм і бібліотекою у Стемфорді, яка розпочалася вступним словом пана Джорджа Ленцика, котрий розповів про місію музею — зберігати, досліджувати та популяризувати багаті мистецькі й культурні традиції України.

Екскурсію також допомагали проводити Карлос Семчечен та Тетяна Станчак, які супроводжували учнів та вчителів музейними залами та коридорами. 🏛️

Гості мали можливість оглянути нашу велику колекцію українського народного та образотворчого мистецтва, відкриваючи для себе історії, майстерність і культурну ідентичність, відображені у кожному експонаті. 🎨
Візит завершився у Українській бібліотеці, де учні та вчителі ознайомилися з унікальною колекцією книжок та історичних матеріалів. 📚Вони також мали можливість взяти з собою деякі дублікати книг, щоб продовжити поширення українських знань і культури у своїй шкільній громаді.

Висловлюємо щиру подяку панові Теду Шатінському та президентці Марії Вирста-Маллін, завдяки зусиллям яких цей візит став можливим. 🙏

Для нас було справжньою радістю приймати таку зацікавлену та натхненну групу учнів і педагогів. Подібні візити нагадують нам, наскільки важливо зберігати нашу культурну спадщину та передавати її майбутнім поколінням. 🇺🇦✨

✨ Celebrating 20 Years of Episcopal Ministry – Bishop Paul Chomnycky ✨

This week, clergy, religious, seminarians, and friends gathered in a place filled with deep personal meaning to celebrate the 20th anniversary of episcopal ministry of Bishop Paul Chomnycky, shepherd of the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Stamford.

The celebration took place at Saint Basil College Seminary—the very place where Bishop Paul first met his seminarians, clergy and his flock in 2006. Returning to this sacred and formative space made the occasion especially moving, reminding all present of the continuity of vocation, mentorship, and spiritual fatherhood that has marked his twenty years of service.

The Divine Liturgy was prayerfully and beautifully sung by the seminarians, joined by the newly ordained Father Vasyl Vorokh. Their voices lifted the hearts of everyone present, reflecting the living tradition of our Church and the fruit of Bishop Paul’s dedication to fostering vocations and guiding young men in discernment and formation.

Despite challenging weather conditions, priests, religious, and the staff of Saint Basil Seminary Inc. came together in gratitude and unity. At the conclusion of the celebration, Bishop Paul humbly thanked all who attended, expressing heartfelt appreciation for their prayers, presence, and steadfast support throughout his ministry.

A particularly solemn and meaningful moment was reserved to pray for the Ukrainian soldiers defending their homeland and for the innocent lives lost during these four years of Russian aggression against Ukraine. In that shared prayer, the celebration transcended anniversary and became a powerful witness of solidarity, faith, and hope amid suffering.

On behalf of the staff of the Ukrainian Museum and Library of Stamford, we extend our warmest congratulations to Bishop Paul on this remarkable milestone. We are deeply grateful for his constant encouragement, pastoral care, and unwavering support of our mission to preserve and promote Ukrainian history, art, and culture. His leadership strengthens not only our Church, but also the cultural and spiritual institutions that serve our community.

✨ Святкуємо 20-річчя єпископського служіння – Владика Павло Хомницький ✨

Цього тижня духовенство, монашество, семінаристи та друзі зібралися в місці, сповненому глибокого особливого значення, щоб відзначити 20-ту річницю єпископського служіння Владики Павла Хомницького, Aрхипастиря Української Католицької Єпархії Стемфорду.

Святкування відбулося в Семінарії Святого Василія Великого — саме в тому місці, де Владика Павло вперше зустрівся зі своїми семінаристами, духовенством та вірними у 2006 році. Повернення до цього священного та формуючого простору зробило цю подію особливо зворушливою, нагадавши всім присутнім про безперервність покликання, наставництва та духовного батьківства, що ознаменували його двадцять років служіння.

Божественну Літургію молитовно й урочисто співали семінаристи разом із нововисвяченим отцем Василем Вороx. Їхні голоси піднесли серця всіх присутніх, відображаючи живу традицію нашої Церкви та плоди відданості Владики Павла у плеканні покликань і провадженні молодих людей на шляху розпізнавання та формації.

Незважаючи на складні погодні умови, священники, монашество та працівники Saint Basil Seminary Inc. зібралися в дусі вдячності та єдності. Наприкінці святкування Владика Павло смиренно подякував усім, хто прибув, висловивши щиру вдячність за молитви, присутність і непохитну підтримку протягом його служіння.

Особливо урочистою та змістовною була хвилина спільної молитви за українських воїнів, які боронять свою Батьківщину, та за невинні життя, втрачені протягом цих чотирьох років російської агресії проти України. У цій спільній молитві святкування вийшло за межі ювілею і стало потужним свідченням солідарності, віри й надії серед страждань.

Від імені працівників Українського Музею та Бібліотеки у Стемфорді складаємо Владиці Павлу найщиріші вітання з цією визначною подією. Ми глибоко вдячні за його постійну підтримку, душпастирську опіку та непохитну допомогу в здійсненні нашої місії — збереження та популяризації української історії, мистецтва й культури. Його провід зміцнює не лише нашу Церкву, але й культурні та духовні установи, які служать нашій громаді.
