Meet Brian Lathan, one of the print block artists for this year's Block Party!

Born and located in St. Louis, Mo., Brian is an artist and educator who explores printmaking and sculpture as his primary form of art creation. Though his specialization is printmaking, he examines the dynamics of print and sculpture, persistently exploring both mediums as means to express personal and subjective commentary and narration. His overall body of work connects through the feeling of personal narrative, folklore, and ethos. Currently, he’s an instructor of Printmaking at multiple universities around St. Louis as well as Craft-Alliance. Alongside his personal practice, Brian simultaneously continues to build his collaborative printmaking practice where he works with other St. Louis artist to create prints and print ephemera.

Up next in our Block Party artist lineup is Emily Mohler!

Emily is a visual artist who seeks to capture and question the very experiences and secrets that each of us keep. She is drawn to depicting the presence and absence of humans as an exploration into her own personal experiences of love, loss, confusion, longing, and identity. Her art explores her fascination with the reality that everyone we see, especially those we may never speak to, has their own unique stories, experiences, relationships, tragedies, and triumphs.

We are so happy to welcome Emily back for another year in our Block Party! Block Party - The Steamroller Print Event is happening on June 13th at the Foundry Art Centre in St. Charles, MO!

Print month at the Foundry kicks off with the opening of Off the Block Print Show at First Friday.

Off the Block, the Foundry’s annual group exhibition, celebrates the art of printmaking. Featuring the diverse perspectives of 30+ printmakers from across the country, the show explores a range of printmaking methods, from classic etching and silkscreen to cutting-edge digital approaches. Themes explore all facets of the human experience - love, loss, mental health, human fallibility, humor, the mundane, and political commentary.

Off the Block marks the exciting start of the Foundry Art Centre’s month-long tribute to printmaking, building anticipation for the 6th Annual Block Party steamroller printing event on June 13th.

First Friday is from 5-8PM on June 5th. This month, celebrate the opening of 2 exhibitions with community, art activities, and drinks at the Foundry Art Centre, just off of Main Street, St. Charles. First Fridays are free and family friendly.
