Frenchtown Heritage Museum A community museum. Frenchtown is part of St. Charles City and was founded as an area of settlement in the early 1769. French citizens moved out of St. Charles.

Charles' central core and created their own neighborhood away from the influx of immigrants from the East. By the mid-1800s, German families had moved into Frenchtown and intermarried into many of the founding families, creating a thriving business district and neighborhood. By the beginning of the 20th century, Frenchtown was home to successful milling companies, industrial factories, the America

n Car and Foundry, Borromeo Catholic Church, the Academy of the Sacred Heart, a stop on the Wabash Railroad, and many influential St. Charles families. Frenchtown is one of five historic districts in St. We are the largest of the five,and are located at the north end of Second Street.

Frenchtown has a new event coming to 2nd Street this fall, and we are 'dying' to tell you all...but for the moment, save the date of October 24, 2026 from 3:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

The old calendar on the wall has brought us back to that time of the month that everyone looks forward to...the Brewseum Happy Hour! This month we have Evermore Magnets, who brings an interactive photo experience to events by turning special moments into custom keepsakes guests can take home in minutes. Whether it’s a community event, brewery gathering, festival, corporate event, or private celebration, they create personalized photo magnets on-site that give guests a fun experience and a lasting reminder of the day. In addition, it was brought to our attention that we are "Half way to Mardi Gras", so everyone entering the Brewseum will receive complementary beads. There will also be the usual Happy Hour discounts on pints and pizzas, so come on down to 1121 N. 2nd Street from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

Local resident and friend of the Museum, Steve Merritt passed away on July 10, 2026. Steve was always trying to find ways to not only help Frenchtown, but any business or organization that needed an extra hand. He was a wealth of knowledge, and had some pretty good stories as well...we'll miss you, my friend!

Our special guest for the July 8th Happy Hour will be Marcionette's. Owned by Chef Courtney, a Naval Officer and chef, Marcionette's was built from a passion for feeding people and creating food with purpose. They support local farmers markets whenever possible, and standing behind farmers both locally and worldwide. They will be sharing complementary samples of homemade Cowboy Caviar with pita chips. Love It? Purchase a "take home a jar" to enjoy. You'll have a chance to ask Chef Courtney about their next chapter becoming a neighbor to Good News Brewing.
As always, the Brewseum Happy Hour is from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Good News Brewing Company, 1121 N. 2nd Street in Saint Charles, with special prices on beer and pizza.

Come join us this evening for our annual La Fête du Midsummer inside the Foundry Art Centre on Riverside Drive. Food, drinks for purchase by local businesses, live music, games, vendors, activities, free to attend from 5:00-8:00 p.m.

La Fete du Midsummer is just around the corner, so we're sending out this little reminder to come join us for a celebration of our French-Canadian heritage and the arrival of the Summer Solstice.
Hosted in partnership with the Foundry Art Centre, this event is inside the facility, so excessive heat or rain will not spoil the fun. Live music, food vendors, games and more from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24th. With the storm water construction continuing around the Foundry, we are attaching a map to show how to access the facility. From the South, follow Riverside up to the parking lot entrance on the right, just past Adams Street. There are signs to help you find the way in. From the North, turn East on Morgan Street from 2nd Street, and stay to the right at the end of the block, through the gate onto N. Main Street, and travel along the ACF buildings all the way to the Foundry.
We hope you all come out and help us celebrate!

As construction continues on the C3 Complex and the stormwater project on Clark Street moves westward, 2nd Street will eventually be closed to traffic on both North and South bound lanes at that location. We want everyone to know that ALL Frenchtown businesses will remain open, and N. 2nd Street is still accessible from the 5th Street corridor, using any of the East/West streets from Decatur to Bayard, and Olive Street just a little further North. We've attached a map as a visual reference. Please remember to help patronize these owner/operator shops through this construction phase, because it is small businesses like these that help drive our local economy. Let's keep the vitality of our amazing community alive...support these small businesses through this construction phase, so they are still here when it is finally completed!
