We provide an opportunity for all who desire to create art and exhibit their work by cultivating a vibrant art community through education, outreach and partnerships. Our Story:
From its beginnings in 1957 as the Emerald Empire Art Association, the Emerald Art Center has grown to become a thriving arts organization of over 200 members. It has a rich history, extensive arts education program of cla

sses and workshops, and an active exhibition schedule each year. Located on the city's Main Street, the art center's restored historic building is a cornerstone for the renaissance of Springfield's downtown cultural district. Membership Benefits include displaying your art at least 9 months out of the year. Opportunities for exhibitions outside of the Art Center, an extensive Art Library, discounts on workshops and free lectures and demos to help our artists learn about marketing, promotion and the ins and outs of showing your art professionally. Participating memberships are $72.00 annually and require 5 hours of volunteer work. Volunteers are needed to assist in the gallery operations, workshop committee, promotion committee, hanging and maintenance, Special events, fundraising and more. Associate Memberships are $180.00 annually and they do not require any volunteer hours. Supporting Memberships are only $30.00 a year and that is for anyone living outside of the State of Oregon. Student Memberships are $25.00 annually for Middle/High School and College students. You can come into EAC to fill out a membership form or go to our website for more information.

“Scratchboard Animal Portraits” is a success! 6 students were gently and expertly led through the process by Levi Whittier. It’s a two day class where they will continue next Sunday to add to their skills. EAC will offer the class again in the Spring. Talk about fun and sincerely accessible!

The Emerald Art Center presents
a group show from members of the PhotoZone Gallery.
PhotoZone is a collection of diverse individuals interested in the craft of fine art photography. The group was formed in 1988 and has had a wide variety of gallery locations in Eugene/Springfield. Genres include landscape and nature photography, documentary styles, abstract expression as well as portraiture and pinhole photography. Experiencing this group exhibition, viewers can see many types of prints including traditional silver prints, images made from digital capture, collaged prints, platinum/palladium, gum bichromate, hand-colored and airbrushed prints.

Also showing is Featured EAC Member: Weldon Oliver

Weldon Oliver was born in Roseburg, OR and grew up in the Umpqua Valley. After leaving the Navy, he worked for NCR Comten, in California, before meeting his oil painting instructor, Tom Anderson. After interning for 5 years, Weldon began his own oil painting instruction business. In 2001, he returned to his native Oregon to open a studio and travel the local area teaching children and adults, in FLorence. After leaving Florence in 2011, he lived in Bend and worked and traveled. He now lives with his wife in Oakridge, Or where he has a studio in the St. Vinnie’s building which faces Hwy 58. Weldon loves Oakridge and the surrounding area for all the variety of Oregon’s beauty. “Everything is here that an oil painter needs. Mountains, lakes, trees, valleys and rivers. I love painting Oregon landscapes.” Weldon can be reached on Facebook as Oliver’s NW Gallery.

Featured EAC Member: Weldon Oliver

Oil Paintings by Weldon Oliver.

Weldon Oliver was born in Roseburg, OR and grew up in the Umpqua Valley. After leaving the Navy, he worked for NCR Comten, in California, before meeting his oil painting instructor, Tom Anderson. After interning for 5 years, Weldon began his own oil painting instruction business. In 2001, he returned to his native Oregon to open a studio and travel the local area teaching children and adults, in FLorence. After leaving Florence in 2011, he lived in Bend and worked and traveled. He now lives with his wife in Oakridge, Or where he has a studio in the St. Vinnie’s building which faces Hwy 58. Weldon loves Oakridge and the surrounding area for all the variety of Oregon’s beauty. “Everything is here that an oil painter needs. Mountains, lakes, trees, valleys and rivers. I love painting Oregon landscapes.” Weldon can be reached on Facebook as Oliver’s NW Gallery.
