We’re excited to welcome two guest speakers from The Customs House Museum & Cultural Center in Clarksville, TN. Join us on October 22 at 7 PM for an evening of learning, conversation, and local history.
Channing Grimes is the Membership, Volunteer & Development Manager for the Customs House Museum & Cultural Center in Clarksville, Tennessee. Since joining the museum in 2021, she has helped grow membership, expand community partnerships and sponsorships, and lead the museum’s signature fundraising events. With a background spanning nonprofit development, events, marketing, and operations, Channing enjoys finding creative ways to connect organizations with their communities and turn good ideas into something people want to be part of.
Shana Thornton is an author, publisher, and the Montgomery County Deputy Historian. She is the author of four works of fiction. In 2012, she opened Thorncraft Publishing, an independent publisher of literature, novels, and creative nonfiction by women authors. Shana believes in using the written word to become involved in the community where she lives. She is the Founder of the Clarksville Montgomery County African American Legacy Trail (2019), a free community publication in print and online. She is the Media & Marketing Manager for the Customs House Museum and Managing Editor of Second & Commerce magazine, the Customs House Museum’s arts, history, and culture magazine.
