And when we say BIG, we mean it. 😏

It’s got a little bit of Springfield history, a whole lot of Route 66 personality, and it’s going to be hard to miss!

Please Note: The Illinois State Fair officially kicks off this Thursday, and during the Fair, admission to the Fairgrounds is required in order to visit the Route 66 Experience.

This is the only time all year that a fee is needed — but it’s also a perfect opportunity to soak in a bit of Illinois tradition. If you’re heading to the Fair, we encourage you to stop by, explore, and enjoy the nostalgia of the Mother Road. 100 Years of greatest American Road Trip Baby!!

VISITOR INFORMATION: The Illinois Route 66 Experience at the Illinois State Fairgrounds is open 365 days a year, giving visitors the opportunity to explore the history and spirit of the Mother Road any time of year.

During the 12 days of the Illinois State Fair, enter through Pedestrian Gate 2 to access the Experience.

Throughout the rest of the year, enter through the Main Gate Office on Sangamon Avenue. After entering the fairgrounds, drive down the hill, take your first right, and follow the road around to the Illinois Route 66 Experience.

The Experience is generally open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Admission is free, although donations to help with the maintenance and upkeep of the Experience are always greatly appreciated.

Tonight Springfield will welcome the 72oz Steak Road Show with The Big Texan Steak Ranch & Brewery as part of the incredible Route 66 Centennial Caravan as they near the conclusion for their journey from Santa Monica Pier. here at the State Fair Route 66 Experience! 🔥🥩
