The J Reilly McCarren Transportation Museum, a 501 (c)(3) organization, fosters an understanding of transportation and it’s significance to American life. We pursue this mission by following established museum practices, providing ongoing programs for members and visitors, strategically collecting artifacts, offering interesting and engaging exhibits, and interpreting transportation related topics while always promoting safety.

We are a 501 (c)(3) organization and all donations are provided a tax deducible receipt for the current tax year. Donations of artifacts, cash or any tangible items gladly accepted.

Norfolk Southern teamed up with Operation Lifesaver today to raise awareness of railroad safety. Mark Kalina Jr., who lost both of his legs after being hit by a train in 2012, spoke today before the Whistle-Stop Safety Train pulled out of a Far West Side freight yard.

IT'S NATIONAL TRAIN DAY!!

National Train Day is TODAY Saturday, May 9. In observance of the event the Heather Ridge Railroad will be open for visitors 1 to 6 PM. Restrooms are not available however are close at the truck stop/McDonalds 1/4 mile from our location. If you have not seen the Heather Ridge Railroad, this is your opportunity to visit and bring the kids or grandkids to see the trains running.

There is no cost for this event however we encourage visitors to bring a non perishable food item that will be donated to Northwest Arkansas Hunger Relief, Inc. For address or directions, please private message us or send e-mail to [email protected]

We are located just off I49 at Exit 58 in Greenland. Easy to find. Call 479 414-8094 if you need help locating us. We are next door to Gateway Church on Cato Springs Road. in Greenland. Just north of Tobo's Truck Stop.

Testing the engine simulator in the museum before Saturday's opening. There will be a free ee train ride from Fayetteville and Rogers to Springdale for the Grand Opening of the Razorback Greenway. Ride the Rails to the Trails... Bikes welcome onboard the train. First come first serve.
