Storytime, with a Craft is back at the MAC!

Starting this Saturday, join the wonderfully creative and kind Lee every Saturday at 11am in Create Space for a children’s story followed by a craft inspired by the book.

Designed for ages 3–7, Storytime, with a Craft encourages vocabulary, early literacy, creativity and fine motor skills. Come for the story, the craft or both! The program lasts approximately one hour and is included with regular museum admission.

Here’s what we’re reading and creating this September:

September 5 - “A Color of His Own” by Leo Lionni
Create your own colorful chameleon art with Posca paint pens.

September 12 - “Knight Owl” by Christopher Denise
Enjoy this Caldecott Honor-winning story, then create your very own shield with markers and Posca paint pens.

September 19 - “Con Pollo: A Bilingual Playtime Adventure” by Jennifer Lopez and Jimmy Fallon
Read along, then craft your own crazy “pollo!”

September 26 — “Alma and How She Got Her Name” by Juana Martinez-Neal
Explore this heartwarming Caldecott Honor Book about family history and the meaning behind our names, then create a personalized name plaque.

We’ll see you Saturday at 11am in Create Space!

This weekend at the MAC!

Tonight, kick off the weekend with Third Friday Films and “Dog Day Afternoon” (1975). Doors open at 6 PM and the film begins at 6:30 PM in the MAC Auditorium.

Tomorrow - Saturday, August 22, join artist Claire Edmo for a hands-on Relief Printmaking Workshop at the MAC, exploring storytelling through image and text while learning foundational relief printing techniques.

Then on Sunday, August 23, head to Manito Park for Plein Air Watercolor with Claire, inspired by landscape, memory, and place. Both workshops are open to all skill levels, and a limited number of kits will be available to borrow.

And don’t miss your last chance to experience “An Eye for Detail: European Paintings 1500–1900.” This is the exhibition’s final weekend at the MAC!

Make a weekend of it and find film tickets, workshop registration, exhibition details, and more on the MAC Calendar.

For last minute registration for Sunday’s Plein Air Watercolor Workshop, you can meet at the pond next to the swan statue at Manito Park.
