Spokane Art School Teaching Spokane to Make and Enjoy Art. A nonprofit community art school open to artists of all abilities and interests.

Our featured artist gallery rotates monthly. SAS is an ideal place to find a gift or new treasure while supporting local artists. Spokane Art School is a respected, private, non-profit arts institution that has been actively working to make Spokane a more creative, visually Savvy Community since 1968. The Art School has helped thousands of Spokane children and adults become more creative and innovative thinkers by gaining understanding and skills to fully involve themselves in the visual world.

We’re thrilled to feature this stunning original oil painting generously donated by Spokane artist J Maloof for our Art After Dark Silent Auction!

Maloof’s artistic journey has been shaped by personal evolution and his experiences as an LGBTQ+ individual growing up in a Midwestern city deeply influenced by religion. Raised in the Catholic school system, he now identifies as religiously unaffiliated. These life experiences have contributed to his unique perspective as an artist.

Now based in Spokane, Washington, Maloof is rebuilding his life and artistic practice, bringing his own story and perspective to his creative work.
