Do you like historical maps? The meeting room at the Chewelah Public Library has a display showing maps from 1859 to 1927. Included are the maps showing David Thompson's portage road, John A. Simms's map of native tribal locations, 1883 map of Stevens County, post office locations along railroad routes, a 1927 topographical map, fire insurance maps of Chewelah and Valley, including the Magnesite Plant, a plat map of Chewelah, and other maps.
