Even though we are temporarily closed, you can still see one of our latest acquisitions - a gorgeous vintage stained glass window was salvaged from St. Paul's Methodist church. Take a look at our windows that face Chestnut Avenue when you walk or drive by at night - the lovely stained glass will be lit up.

It was installed in memory of Charmian Lewis, a 3-year old girl who was tragically killed after being struck by a truck.

Good morning,

My name is Iain Walker writing from New York. I am a member of a nonprofit research group called Get it Home United which returns items found in Europe to their family’s in the United States if possible. These items are mainly dog tags, bracelets, watches, and anything else identifiable lost during WW1 or WW2.

Recently, a bracelet (attached) was found in England bearing the name of Richard M. Francis with service no. 11131231.

We identified Mr. Francis further as Richard Marvin (we think for middle name) Francis, born 2/25/1924 and who passed away on 2/8/2001. I have found a single record illustrating that he was a resident of San Mateo, CA and South San Francisco at the time he passed away but at this time that is pretty much all of the information I have.

I have not been able to find an obituary or anything else but I was hoping you might be able to assist with any local records that might identity his residence further, family members, etc.

We always try to return these items to close family when possible but this project hasn’t given us much to go on. We have identified his parents as Joseph Norman and Nellie from old census records.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! I’m hoping you might have access to more recent records identifying family, etc.

Best regards,

Iain Walker
