As we begin our seasonal closing procedures here at Tallac, our team of staff and volunteers would like to thank you immensely for a wonderful 2026 season! If you’re new here, Tallac Historic Site (located within your public National Forest) is open seasonally from May- October annually. Throughout the second half of September our team begins to close our historic cabins, protecting them from Tahoes winter storms. If you’re planning a trip to Tallac this September, please note most (if not all) cabins will be closed. See the remaining slides for what’s open this weekend.

Join us for a tour through time and the Tallac Historic Site, as we unravel the mysteries behind the Spiritualism movement in America. We’ll explore reports of disputed “spiritual” or “other-worldly” experiences that visitors and staff have witnessed at the Pope and Baldwin Estates themselves.
This program is recommended for ages 12 and up; children under 12 are not permitted on this tour.

The experimental summer sale known as The Anita Thrift has been wildly successful! We not only opened a historical cabin that had been closed to the public for ~6 years, but we saved hundreds of items from landfills- giving them a second life, and raised over $2,000 for Tallac Historic Site! Purchases from The Anita Thrift help support your visitors services, including but not limited to trail maintenance, restroom cleanliness, and even historic cabin restoration! Due to the thrifts popularity, we are staying open, but changing days, this September!
September Hours: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 11am-3pm.

Today we had a visit from the California Art Club. Our Artist in Residence, Pam McKnight, showed the group of 20 around Tallac Historic Site. If you painted with this group today, please tag us in your photos!
