My studio is a sacred space. A place to step away from the noise and take a closer look at myself, the people around me, and the world we share.
I’m continually struck by the coexistence of so much cruelty and so much beauty.
There is suffering and there is compassion. There is indifference, and there are extraordinary people quietly working to make a difference.
Painting is how I sit with that complexity.
I take in moments, memories, places, conversations, feelings, things seen and things felt and allow them to be transformed through color, gesture, movement, and intuition.
What emerges isn’t a literal record of those experiences, but what lingers after them.
And perhaps that’s what I hope my paintings can offer in return: a moment to pause, to feel, to remember, or to see something differently.
I’m learning that we don’t always have to change the world in monumental ways. Sometimes a small gesture is enough to move something forward.
🎨 One mark can change a painting.
🤍One act of kindness can change a day.
🏔️One small difference can move a mountain.
In essence, sometimes big change comes from incremental acts of devotion and dedication 🤍🩵🤍
So…..I keep painting.
I keep paying attention.
I keep trying to understand what it means to be here.
With love from my studio 🤍🩵 Kim
