Quecreek Mine Rescue Foundation

Quecreek Mine Rescue Foundation The Quecreek Mine Rescue Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization created to preserve the Quecreek Mine Rescue Memorial. From July 24-28, 2002, millions worldwide watched and waited as rescuers worked around the clock to save nine men trapped in the flooded Quecreek mine in Lincoln Township, Somerset County.

For 77 hours, rescuers faced set back after set back as they raced to bring all nine miners home alive. Miraculously, in the early morning hours of July 28, the miners were brought safely to the surface, one by one, in what was undoubtedly a feel-good moment for a community and a nation still reeling from the tragedy of September 11, 2001, just 10 months earlier.

Memories of a miracle: Saved miners, rescuers and community gather for Quecreek Mine celebration

Good morning, friends! As we wake up to a beautiful Sunday morning after yesterday's awesome celebration, we would like to thank our courageous miners and heroic rescuers, our event attendees, all of our generous donors, our phenomenal volunteers, the vendors who supplied the delicious food, our fireworks presenter, and our talented musicians. And, of course, the Man Upstairs, the 10th man in the mine, God for making the #9for9 rescue possible.

Miners return to Quecreek Mine where their perilous escape 15 years ago held the world breathless for nearly 4 days.

I'm so happy we chose to visit your little museum. We were not expecting such a detailed, passionate, and thorough presentation. Thanks.
This was an amazing experience I enjoy history and learning about the way thing used to be done. These guides were there... You felt the tension of that day as book Arnold explained it. Brought my son and grandkids we all were in awe of the the truck that happened that day. I would love to meet the movers all 18 that we're involved that day I was disappointed to realize they got very little compensation for there near death experience at the fault of their superiors having old maps I hope they received some proceeds from the sale of their story sold in the gift shop. Bill Arnold was an amazing speaker.
My friend and I visited the rescue site for the first time today. The site is interesting but your volunteer Vicky is a gem. She is an awesome storyteller and kept our group listening for her 1 hour presentation about the miracle that took place there. It was even better since she personally knew the involved miners. She was A+ and made the trip worthwhile. I bought Bill's book for my son who is interested in mining and coal production. Great visit and thank you!
You won't want to miss participating the Silent Auction in support of the Quecreek Mine Rescue Foundation. Just a few of the 50 + items offered...more than 7 overnight stays at area hotels, more than 7 dinners for 2 at various area restaurants, admissions to area attractions including Kentuck K**b, Klay Winery, Latshaw Christmas Pops Concert, Mountain Playhouse show and more. Also, Lenox Vase, Nemacolin Spa Basket, Book "Washington's Farewell" and author talk, Bike Rentals, Wine Fest and so much more! Many great buys!!
