Norm Kalloch has written several Maine-themed works of fiction and historical fiction. Although the storylines differ, they share a common theme of survival, hardship, and human resilience and are set in western Maine. His latest book, Washed Out, is a fictionalized account of the flooding of the Dead River Valley, which created Flagstaff Lake.
Norm, who grew up in Rockland, Maine, is a graduate of the University of Maine. He spent 34 years working for the Natural Resources Conservation Service and is now retired. He and his wife, Audrey, enjoy the summers at their camp on West Carry Pond in Somerset County, where Norm happily works to improve his woodlot and attempts to catch large brook trout.

What does a rural Maine boy blessed with seven sisters and seven brothers do to separate himself from the madness: he reads and watches. Reading and watching continued as a teacher for thirty-two years. I am now placing what I learned during all those years on the written page. Just as my experiences and memories occurred one at a time each of my books are separate stories. The sequence of my books is as follows: AS IT LIES, THIS OLD HOUSE, TROUBLED WATERS, ARE YOU GOING TO SKOWHEGAN FAIR, PEBBLES FROM THE POND, THE HOUSE THAT
JACK BUILT, and GHOST WRITER. Three other titles, ROGUE WAVE, RIVER WATER, and THROUGH THEIR EYES, wait patiently as I try to find a Literary Agent for my work.

Maililani Bailey claims to be a Pacific Islander on the census, but has no feelings of home at all for that place called Hawaii. She was raised to think of Maine and Swan's Island as her true home. Indeed, there is something in the blood that keeps her rooted in that small island. Being related to "King" David Smith, who fought in the Revolution and who settled on Swan's Island in1793 pretty well fixes her place there.
Her triumphs include being a foster parent for 18 years; the director of a soup kitchen in Waterville for 32 years; getting an associate’s degree in library science after having been a librarian for many years; writing and keeping organized her poetry. She contributes regularly to poetry programs in Skowhegan, Waterville and Swan's Island.

Peter Pfeiffer grew up in Maine, and after worldwide travels, returned to Somerset County and took up a lifelong career as an independent logger and Tree Farmer. He has won the Somerset County Tree Farmer of the Year award twice, and was named the Certified Logging Professional organization's Logger of the Year in 2018. He has also farmed, run sawmills, built houses, and written numerous plays for the In Spite of Life Players theater company.
