Skidmore Historical Society & Museum The Skidmore Historical Society meets at 6:00 p.m. on the 2nd Tuesday of most months at the Skidmore Museum at Hwy 181 & Sullivan Street.

Museum hours: 2-4pm Sunday. For more information or to request a private tour, contact Cathey Brown at 361-319-1564.

Dick Segelkin, at left, leads a group of 7th-grade students on a tour of historical items stored in the Skidmore Museum garage in 2023. Dick passed away peacefully in his apartment in Friendswood on August 5. He was a longtime volunteer with the Skidmore Historical Society who "had a way of making it fun for students," according to fellow volunteer Cathey Brown. A memorial service at the Skidmore cemetery is planned at a later date.

The museum will be closed on Easter Sunday, April 5th. Regular Sunday visting hours, from 2-4pm, will resume on April 12th.
