The Skiatook Museum is open every Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. To scedule a private tour, send us a message through our page!

Admission is free, but donations are welcome! Proud member of Oklahoma Musuems Association (OMA). The Skiatook Museum’s mission is to honor the past, enrich the present, and enlighten future generations by collecting, presenting and preserving the history and heritage of the Skiatook area. The museum is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization staffed by volunteers that relies on donations for funding.

Our volunteers have been hard at work refreshing the displays at the Skiatook Museum! While reorganizing, we discovered a couple pieces of older fire equipment that needed to be inspected for safety. We reached out to the Skiatook Fire Department for their professional recommendations and Fire Marshal Denton Eller came to the museum to review the items. He also inspected our active fire extinguishers for compliance.

What began as an official request turned into a bonus treasure for Fire Marshal Eller! While he was here, we were able to show him his ancestors on both his dad and mom’s side who were some of Skiatook’s Pioneer families.

You never know who you will see on display - your ancestor or in some cases, it might be YOU!!

If you weren’t able to make it out to the museum for the Sassy Stitchers’ quilt raffle, fear not! You can purchase your raffle tickets for their Christmas quilt here at the Skiatook Museum! The winner will be drawn in December, so come on out on Fridays and Saturdays from 10am to 1pm and get your tickets for this beautiful quilt!

We at the Skiatook Museum would like to congratulate the winner of our raffle for the Grandma’s Soap Company basket! Dana Tindell of Skiatook happily accepted her basket from one of our volunteers this weekend. If you visited us during Pioneer Day, you may recognize that name from some of the quilts on display during our quilt show!!

The soap basket was generously donated by Bill and Sue Robertson, owners of Grandma’s Soap Company and residents of Skiatook.

The museum extends its gratitude to the Robertson’s, Mrs. Tindell, and everyone who visited us on Pioneer Day and made it a rousing success!

Pioneer Day 2026 was a success! Thank you to everyone who visited us today and enjoyed our renewed displays!! The Sassy Stitchers set up on the porch outside and sold many raffle tickets for their quilts. Check the photo descriptions below for the date the winners will be drawn! We had a couple people come dressed up for the day, and the all looked great!

As for the Grandma’s Lye Soap basket, we will draw for the winner shortly and they’ll receive a call to set up a pickup time!

Pioneer Day 2026 @ The Skiatook Museum! 🎉

We have several quilts from our community ready for our quilt show, including TWO beautiful quilts made by the Sassy Stitchers which are being raffled off!!

Just for coming in, you’ll also be able to enter a raffle for a gift basket filled to the brim with Grandma’s Lye Soaps!! This basket has an estimated value of $75.00. When we say this basket smells amazing, we mean it! All we ask in return is that you enjoy our museum and donate if you are lead to do so! That donation goes towards our continued efforts to preserve the Pioneer spirit our community was founded on!

We can’t wait to have you out at the Skiatook Museum from 10a.m. to 1p.m., or until crowds disperse!!!

Pioneer Day 2026 is on Saturday, and we are putting the final touches on all of our plans! The museum will be open from 10:00 following the parade until 1:00, or until the crowds disperse, whichever is later.

We will have the Sassy Stitchers back at the museum this year with a fresh and beautiful quilt to be raffled off. These ladies work hard on their designs every year, and this one will definitely be worth the price of many, many tickets!!

For any costumers and the theatrically inclined, come in wearing your best Frontier dress and let us take your photo for our page! Not only will you be featured, our followers will vote on the best costume and the winner will receive some museum-related goodies!!!

We are also hosting our own raffle for a soap basket donated by Grandma’s soaps out of Tulsa!!

And while you’re in, check out all the new signage on our displays! Our volunteers have been hard at work updating our signage to provide a better explanation of what all the items in our collection are and what their significance to our city is!

Any donations received this weekend will go towards a new project, digitizing and protecting our vast collection for the future!! We’ve had our eyes on an archival book scanner to help us preserve the most delicate pieces of our collection, including family scrapbooks, written journals, and a plethora of photographs. Each piece of our collection tells a story, and that story is the backbone of our community.

We can’t wait to see everyone out here on Saturday for Pioneer Day!!

📣 Interest Gathering!

As the museum prepares for Pioneer Day 2026, we’d like to ask the community for some feedback on an event we are planning!

Would anyone be interested in a Frontier Costume Contest? During Pioneer Day, anyone could simply visit the museum dressed in their best pioneer outfit, then all of our followers here on Facebook would be the judges! We are hard at work determining what a worthy, theme-appropriate prize would be for the winners and will release more details when the time comes.

Let us know whether you are interested in this kind of event, and tag all of your crafty, sew-happy, history-loving friends in the comments!! If anyone needs inspiration, we have several dresses displayed inside the museum, including this outfit worn by Jenny Lorenz during Pioneer Day!

🏈 Skiatook’s own Frank “Pop” Ivy (1916–2003) will be posthumously inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame (CFHOF) this September.

Born and raised in Skiatook, Pop graduated from Skiatook in 1935, where he was selected to the All-State football team. The following year, he married another Skiatook native, Inez Daniel, and went on to play football at the University of Oklahoma.

Pop played in OU’s first bowl game—the 1939 Orange Bowl—and was named a First Team All-American that same year. In 1940, he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers and played professionally until 1947, when he returned to OU as an assistant coach under legendary coach Bud Wilkinson.

In 1954, Pop became head coach of the Edmonton Eskimos. His teams won the Canadian Football League championship three consecutive years. During his four seasons in Edmonton, he compiled an incredible 50–14 regular-season record, giving him the highest winning percentage in league history.

In addition to the CFL, Pop also coached in the AFL and NFL, including stints with the Chicago Cardinals, Houston Oilers, and New York Giants. He is the only person to have coached in all three leagues. In 1973, he transitioned to scouting for the Giants, a position he held until his retirement in 1984.

Beyond football, Pop remained connected to his hometown throughout his life. He was a 32nd degree Mason and lifetime member of the Skiatook Masonic Lodge.

We are proud to remember and celebrate Frank “Pop” Ivy and his remarkable legacy both on and off the football field.

On Saturday, July 4th, 2026, the Skiatook Museum buried a time capsule in conjunction with the City of Skiatook! This capsule will be opened in exactly 50 years on July 4th, 2076 to celebrate the 300th anniversary of our nation’s fight for independence!

Included are items from the Skiatook High School Class of 2026, menus from many of our local restaurants, and a host of other pieces which hold significance to our city! The capsule is buried in front of the museum, and in the coming days a marker will be placed on top of it.

The next time you visit the museum, come and see the marker for yourself! This time capsule, and our museum, contain our shared history as a community and they belong to YOU, the citizens of Skiatook! In 50 years when our children, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren open that vault, they’ll get a glimpse into what life was like for us all the way back in the 2020’s.

We would like to thank Scott Neighbors and the City of Skiatook for organizing this time capsule, Randy Sein and Sein-Shelton Funeral Home for providing the vault for the time capsule and the marker, and to the Skiatook High School Class of 2026 for providing their items for the capsule! Additional thanks are extended to everyone that contributed to this project over the past few months!

The Skiatook Museum is pleased to present a special tribute honoring the ninety-six seniors of the Skiatook High School Class of 1976 as they celebrate the 50th anniversary of their graduation.

Not only does the Class of ’76 share its 50th reunion year with the 250th anniversary of the United States, but it was also the last class to graduate from the now-demolished high school on South Osage Avenue. In addition, it was the first Skiatook senior class to have its senior pictures printed in color.

We hope you enjoy this look back at a remarkable class and an important chapter in Skiatook history.
