ONE LAST PUSH, SISTERS!

Thanks to this wonderfully generous community, we have collected 3,059 pounds of nonperishable food for the Sisters Kiwanis Food Bank.

Seriously—thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who has donated food, filled a grocery bag, given cash, shared a post, or helped spread the word.

Our goal is 5,000 pounds, which means we still need 1,941 pounds. It’s a hefty final stretch—but Sisters has accomplished some pretty remarkable things one can, one bag, and one generous neighbor at a time.

Can you help us finish strong?

Bring nonperishable food or make a cash donation at Makin’ it Local by:

⏰ Saturday, October 31 at 5 p.m.
📍 281 W. Cascade Avenue, Sisters

It’s also your last chance to enter the prize drawing for:

🎨 A custom-framed local artist’s print valued at $450
🍽️ A $100 gift card to your favorite Sisters restaurant
💛 A $100 Makin’ it Local gift card

Every can counts. Every dollar helps the food bank purchase exactly what is needed most. And every donation reminds our neighbors that their community cares.

Let’s give Feed Sisters 2026 one final, generous push.

BE THE CAN THAT GETS US CLOSER.

THANK YOU, SISTERS.

COULD YOU GIVE ONE MORE CAN?

Your generosity has already filled hundreds of grocery bags for the Sisters Kiwanis Food Bank—and we are deeply grateful.

But the shelves still need food, and we have just a few days left to reach our 5,000-pound goal.

One more can. One more bag. One more donation.
It all adds up for our neighbors.

Donate food or cash by October 31.
Cash donations help the food bank purchase exactly what is needed most.

LAST CHANCE TO ENTER THE PRIZE DRAWING!

Heads up - Makin' it Local is closed Tuesday afternoon, October 27th. Check online for our hours and availability. You can also book an appointment at www.makinitlocal.com - click on Book a Gallery Visit.  We hope to see you soon!

Sisters, you showed up—and you brought the cans!

Thank you to everyone who attended our Fourth Friday Canned W**e Night and supported Feed Sisters 2026. Together, you donated an estimated 600 pounds of food and an incredible $1,100 in cash donations for the Sisters Kiwanis Food Bank!

We say “estimated” because our postage scale is surprisingly uncooperative when asked to weigh grocery bags stuffed with canned chili and beef stew. Apparently, that wasn’t covered in the instruction manual.

A very special thank-you to Tristan Marshall for filling the gallery with wonderful instrumental guitar and ukulele music. What a talent—and what a generous gift to the evening. 🎶

We’re grateful to every person who carried in a bag, made a donation, raised a glass, and helped spread the word.

Now for the final push: We have seven days left to reach our 5,000-pound goal.

Pick up an empty Feed Sisters grocery bag at Makin’ it Local, fill it with quality nonperishable food, and return it by October 31. Food and monetary donations are both welcome—and mighty useful.

Let’s finish this together, Sisters.

Be the can that gets us closer.

TONIGHT IS THE NIGHT!

Feed Sisters 2026 Fourth Friday Canned W**e Night is happening tonight from 4–6 p.m. at Makin’ it Local!

Bring your filled Feed Sisters grocery bags and drop them off before walking around town—because hauling canned chicken and peanut butter all evening is an excellent workout, but a questionable social activity.

Tonight’s lineup:

🥫 Drop off nonperishable food donations
🛍️ Pick up an empty Feed Sisters grocery bag
🎶 Live music by Tristan from 4:30–6 p.m.
🍷 Oregon canned w**e—because it is a canned-food drive
🍺 B**r for those who prefer their cans less grapey
🎟️ Complete a drawing slip for a chance to win one of our fabulous prizes

Tonight—Friday, October 23
4–6 p.m.
Makin’ it Local
281 W. Cascade Avenue, Sisters

Can’t fill a bag tonight? Pick one up and return it by October 31. Feed Sisters 2026 is still working toward its 5,000-pound goal for the Sisters Kiwanis Food Bank.

Come for the food drive. Stay for Tristan. Raise a can to neighbors helping neighbors.

FILL A BAG. FEED SISTERS. STAY FOR A TUNE

This Fourth Friday, please make Makin’ it Local your first stop. Not because we’re needy—although attention is lovely—but because carrying an overflowing bag of peanut butter, tuna, chili, and beef stew around town all evening is unnecessarily athletic. Doors open and the fun starts at 4 p.m.

Drop off your filled Feed Sisters grocery bag, complete your drawing slip, and then reward your excellent community spirit with:

Live ukulele music by Tristan Marshall from 4:30–6 p.m.

Refreshing Oregon canned w**e, Deschutes B**r, and Sparkling Water

Makin' it Local "famous" ginger snap cookies!

The satisfaction of helping stock the Sisters Kiwanis Food Bank

Yes, we’re serving canned w**e at a canned-food drive. Occasionally, a theme simply writes itself.

THE FOOD HAS LEFT THE GALLERY!

Jeff and Doug, co-directors of the Sisters Kiwanis Food Bank ( Sisters Kiwanis ), stopped by to collect the latest Feed Sisters donations—and our community filled the back of an F-150 and an SUV.

We’ll have the official poundage later this week. For now, let’s call it “a very respectable amount of suspension-testing generosity.”

And there’s more good news:

💵 Monetary donations to date: $1,591

A huge thank-you to everyone who has donated money. Cash contributions allow the Sisters Kiwanis Food Bank to purchase exactly what is needed most, when it is needed most. Every dollar helps stock the shelves more strategically—and 100% of it benefits the food bank.

Feed Sisters 2026 simply could not happen without so many community members stepping up.

But—and this is a rather large, canned-food-sized but—we are still a long way from our 5,000-pound goal.

If you can donate and haven’t yet, please dig deep. Stop by Makin’ it Local, pick up an empty Feed Sisters grocery bag—or two—and bring it back full of quality nonperishable food.

You can return your bag anytime through October 31, or join us for:

🍷 Oregon canned w**e and b**r

Canned drinks at a canned-food drive. We do occasionally think things through.

And finally, we are relieved to report that the bag containing the Lay’s potato chips has officially left the gallery.

Brent brought that donation in, and we strongly suspect he knew we would have to stare at those chips until pickup day. Black beans and canned tuna are wonderful, useful donations—but they do not whisper our names from across the gallery quite like potato chips.

The temptation has passed. The chips survived. Barely.

Thanks, Brent. We think.

ROAD TRIP! Pottery waits for no one!

When the artists call, we come running. Or, in this case, driving a few hundred miles across Central Oregon! 😂

Makin’ it Local will be closed Thursday morning, October 15th, while we head east on a pottery treasure hunt!

Our mission? Meet up in Dayville, Oregon, with the talented folks from Muddy Creek Studio and bring back another load of seriously great, locally made pottery.

Apparently, beautiful pottery doesn't deliver itself. Who knew?

The good news? We've got this road trip down to a science (well, sort of), and we'll be back OPEN at NOON on Thursday!

We apologize for the brief inconvenience, but when there's great Oregon art to be had, sometimes you've just gotta hit the road!

We'll be open our regular hours the rest of the week.

Seriously Great Art. Worth the Drive. 😉

If you have Feed Sisters food bags, Please do not leave them in front of the door. They grow legs and walk away. Thank you, and sorry for the inconvenience.

A big, heartfelt thank-you to Central Oregon Daily for turning its cameras toward Feed Sisters 2026 and helping share this important community story.

Central Oregon Daily does a fantastic job highlighting the people, organizations, and projects making a difference throughout our region. Coverage like this reaches well beyond a single news segment—it helps empty grocery bags become full ones, introduces more people to the work of the Sisters Kiwanis Food Bank, and moves our community closer to its 5,000-pound goal.

Admittedly, grocery bags filled with peanut butter, canned chicken, tuna, chili, and beef stew may not be the most glamorous things ever featured on television. But around here, they are absolutely worthy of the spotlight.

Thank you, Central Oregon Daily, for recognizing that community-interest stories matter—and for helping neighbors feed neighbors.

Pick up an empty Feed Sisters grocery bag at Makin’ it Local and return it filled by October 31. Better yet, join us for Fourth Friday Canned W**e Night with Live Music by Tristan - Friday, October 23rd, 4- 6 p.m. Yeah Tristan M.

A heartfelt thank-you to our hometown newspaper, The Nugget News — Nugget Newspaper — for helping spread the word about Feed Sisters 2026 and our upcoming Fourth Friday Canned W**e Night.

The Nugget consistently shows up for Sisters—sharing the stories, people, organizations, and slightly questionable ideas that make this community special. Yes, apparently serving canned w**e at a canned-food drive qualifies as news. We feel seen.
