Join us for this special free program presented by Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser and the Louisiana Division of the Arts, in partnership with the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities, Shreveport Regional Arts Council, and Louisiana Public Broadcasting.

The presentation, Louisiana’s Gift to America: A Musical Legacy brings Louisiana’s rich and diverse musical traditions to center stage, celebrating the artists, communities, traditions, and cultural heritage that have influenced and shaped the sound of America, bringing together three distinctive Louisiana artists and musical forces:

Beausoleil avec Michael Doucet
The Dr. Michael White Quartet
A.J. Haynes - Lead vocalist of the Seratones

Few places have contributed more distinctive sounds to America’s musical story than Louisiana. Its rhythms, traditions, and cultural influences have traveled far beyond the state—from the infectious energy of zydeco and Cajun music to the soulful roots of jazz and swamp blues. For the nation’s 250th anniversary, Louisiana’s Gift to America will celebrate this extraordinary musical legacy through a vibrant, multidisciplinary performance that shines a light on the people, places, and traditions that have left an indelible mark on American music.

🗓️ WHEN: September 18. 2026
📍 LOCATION Shreveport Municipal Auditorium, 705 Grande Avenue, Shreveport, LA - historic home of the legendary Louisiana Hayride
🕑 EVENT TIMES 6:00 - 8:00 - Doors open at 5:00pm, and the show will begin promptly at 6:00pm, guests are encouraged to arrive early. There are no tickets for this event, as this is a free event.

FIVE DECADES. ONE COMMUNITY

In 2026, the Shreveport Regional Arts Council, Red River Revel and the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl all celebrate 50 years of supporting our wonderful community. This milestone has been made possible by generations of families, friends, artists and supporters who believed in the power of bringing people together.

To celebrate, a special exhibit has been curated by local artist, Bruce Allen, that has poured tirelessly over 50 years of photographs and memories to share with you - the people who have carried these beloved traditions forward. Your stories, experiences and contributions are woven into our legacy.

For five decades, you have helped shape who we are. Now, together we look toward the next 50 years and the memories, traditions and possibilities still to come.

Thank you for being part of our story, and the reason our story continues.

Her work reflects a lifelong passion for exploration, embracing creativity through fire, craftsmanship, and the experiences that continue to inspire her artistic journey.

Michelle will also be hosting a workshop on Saturday at her business location, High Gravity Glassworks. This is a free workshop!

Shreveport native, Irene Gaillon, is a visual artist whose work in acrylic and spray paint explores themes of community, family, and friendship. Through vibrant, uplifting imagery, she creates pieces that resonate with and inspire viewers.

Gallion was named Best of Show in the Visual Showcase at Critical MASS 13 and debuted her commissioned solo exhibition, HALL PASS, at this year’s Critical MASS 14. The exhibition remains on view at artspace through August 7, making Thursday the final opportunity to experience this remarkable collection.
