Reminder: We Are Closed for Memorial Day

Shippensburg University and the Fashion Archives and Museum are closed on Monday, May 25, for Memorial Day. It's raining too much to enjoy a BBQ outside, but we hope our friends elsewhere enjoy better weather and time with loved ones. Even more importantly, we all honor those who have served in the past and continue to serve today.

We reopen on Tuesday per our usual schedule and invite you to visit our latest exhibit!

More Information on the Patriots Path and the Fashion Archives and Museum

We mentioned the county "Patriots Path" celebration of America's 250th of which the Fashion Archives exhibit is a part. There is a launch event that may be of interest that even includes free cake! Here is the link for those you planning some summer expeditions:

Fashion Archives Assists Elizabeth Sage Historic Costume Collection at Indiana University-Bloomington

A number of visitors to the Fashion Archives have enjoyed the period hairstyles we create. Other curators have taken notice, and the curatorial staff from the Elizabeth Sage Historic Costume Collection asked for a lesson in the techniques that Director Karin developed. But Bloomington is too far for a hands-on workshop, but Zoom proved an effective substitute. The results are great, as you can see from the attached images. The mannequins are currently on display in the Wylie House until the heat and humidity become too much. Then the mannequins will be moved to the visitors' center. Our western friends and those who are planning trips might want to put this stop on their itinerary. Here's the link for more information:
