🇺🇸 The Greater Shenandoah Historical Museum's 250th Anniversary Lecture Series continues this Saturday!

Join us as Dr. Ted Goudge presents "The Geography of American Sports from 1776–2026" 🏈⚾🏀

From early American pastimes to today's major sports and their impact across the country, Ted will explore how sports have helped shape communities, culture, and American identity over the past 250 years.

🍋 We'll also be joined by local favorite Wicked Sips, serving up their delicious fresh-squeezed lemonade!

🌧️ A little rain couldn't keep the history lovers away! 🇺🇸

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our lecture on the early drafts of the Declaration of Independence. Despite the weather, we were thrilled to see such a wonderful turnout and appreciate everyone who braved the rain to spend the morning with us.

A special thank you to Dave and Roxanne McFarland from the Montgomery County Historical Center for sharing their knowledge, enthusiasm, and incredible reenactment attire. 📜

✨ Their presentation brought history to life and gave us all a deeper appreciation for the journey behind one of our nation's most important documents.

We are grateful for the continued support of our museum and our lecture series. Seeing our community come together to learn, share, and celebrate history makes all the hard work worthwhile.

🇺🇸 This June, join us for a special month-long Guest Lecture Series celebrating American history, culture, and the stories that shaped our nation. Every Saturday, the museum will host distinguished speakers and reinactors for a lecture designed to bring history to life for our community. 📜

This year’s featured speakers include Dave and Roxanne McFarland of the Montgomery County Museum, Professor Ted Goudge of Northwest Missouri State University, local Allan Jordan, and Matthew Volker. Each lecture will offer a unique perspective on American history, culture, and heritage.

Throughout the series, guests will also be able to enjoy live musical performances 🎶 and refreshments from local vendor Wicked Sips 🍋

This unique series offers an opportunity to experience history through storytelling, music, and community. We look forward to welcoming visitors of all ages as we explore the people, places, and events that continue to shape the American experience.
