Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate our annual Christmas Open House!

As always, the soup and cookies were delicious, the entertainment was incredible, and the Gingerbread houses were impressive!

Merry Christmas to all!!

Thanks for all he beautiful photographs of last nights sky. FB has been full of outstanding views. I didn't see any outstnding solar flare effects locally, so have nothing to share. The events are very interesting. Isn't it great that we know the sun is sending unusual energy toward earth, we learn of it in advance. There are maps showing where to watch, and what.to expect. Thanks for all the pictures.

Join us for another memorable evening of gingerbread houses, singing, soup and Christmas cheer! Tuesday, December 9th!

Member Spotlight: Ron Buck & Hali Richmond 🌟

Today, we are thrilled to shine a light on two more members of the Marias Museum board: Ron Buck and Hali Richmond. Both are esteemed educators and Montana History Teacher Leaders, dedicated to enriching our community through education and historical preservation.

Ron Buck has been a passionate school teacher in Shelby since 2004. His commitment to history is evident in his work with the Montana Historical Society, where he plays an integral role in inspiring others. Besides his educational endeavors, Ron serves as the local fire chief, showcasing his dedication to community service. As a member of the Montana Heritage Commission, Ron believes in the importance of understanding and representing history, often saying, “I love our local history, and someone's gotta teach about it, so why not me!?”

Joining Ron is Hali Richmond, an enthusiastic educator from North Toole County. Hali shares Ron's passion for history and education, believing it's essential for students to "know their roots" in order to grow strong and thrive wherever life takes them. Hali is entering her 10th year as an educator and looks forward to many more!

Both Ron and Hali have been members of our board for about three years, consistently bringing their insightful perspectives and enthusiasm for history to the forefront. Their leadership and passion inspire us all. Thank you, Ron and Hali, for your unwavering dedication to education and community service.

And HAVE A GREAT FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! 👩🏻‍🏫👨🏼‍🏫

Member Spotlight: Kayleen Nelson 🌟

Today, we're delighted to feature Kayleen Nelson, a treasured member of the Marias Museum family. Kayleen became a part of our community in 2009, inspired by her uncle's involvement on the board. Even before officially joining, Kayleen shared her love for music at various museum events, setting the stage for her eventual membership.

With a degree in history from Montana State University, Kayleen's passion for the past is both profound and personal.

At the museum, Kayleen finds joy in preparing for open houses and cherishes the memories of playing music during these events in the past.

Thank you, Kayleen, for your commitment to our museum and for sharing your talents with us. 🌟

Member Spotlight: Tracy Kiefer 🌟

We're excited to shine the spotlight on Tracy Kiefer, a vibrant member of the Marias Museum community. Tracy joined us about a decade ago, thanks to the persuasive invitation from Carol Mundt, who knew Tracy's love for history couldn't be resisted. Despite Tracy’s humorous claim of knowing nothing, his enthusiasm and willingness to learn have been a delightful addition to our team.

Thank you, Tracy, for your infectious enthusiasm and for embracing the journey of learning and preserving history. We’re grateful to have you as part of our museum team! 🌟

Member Spotlight: Tracy Dumas 🌟

In our latest member spotlight, we’re thrilled to celebrate Tracy Dumas, a dedicated member of the Marias Museum family since the construction of the Annex in 2008. Tracy, now retired, spent an impressive 41 years working on the railroad.

Tracy’s favorite aspect of being part of the museum is the opportunity to meet fascinating individuals and discover the intriguing artifacts they bring.

Thank you, Tracy, for your unwavering support and for being such an inspiring part of our museum. 🌟

Member Spotlight: Lance Wallewein 🌟

Today we’re giving a shoutout to one of our awesome Marias Museum members, Lance Wallewein. Lance joined us back in 2008 after Vonnie McAlpine invited him, and he's been a key player in our community ever since.

Lance is a total history buff with over 100 history books lining his shelves at home. But his love for history doesn’t stop there—he’s got a super cool collection of “junk” at his farm, each piece with its own story to tell.

Lance's journey as our secretary started when he casually took notes at a meeting. Little did he know, this would land him the role!

We can’t thank Lance enough for his dedication and the brightness he brings to our museum family. Thanks for being such a vital part of the team, Lance!

Member Spotlight: Dean Hellinger 🌟

Today, we honor a cherished member of the Marias Museum community, Dean Hellinger, who has left an indelible mark on our organization. Although Dean is no longer an active member of the museum board, his contributions and passion for history have been instrumental in shaping the museum we know today.

Dean first joined our team in 1990, bringing with him a remarkable collection of old photos of Toole County's rural schools. His dedication to preserving local history has been unwavering, and he even served as the director of the museum, guiding us with his expertise and love for the past.

A true history enthusiast, Dean's favorite exhibit is the Devon General Store, which holds a special place in his heart and evokes fond memories. Dean has seen the museum grow over the years to now include 14 exhibit areas, each with its own unique story.

Thank you, Dean, for your years of dedication and for bringing history to life for so many. Your legacy continues to inspire us all. 🌟
