October is off to a busy start, with more than 200 visitors!

On Tuesday, Trevor and Breezy from Snohomish, Washington, visited us. I was outside watering the flowers when I saw a beautiful vintage car pull into our Magnolia Station. I went over to visit with them and invited them to come into the museum. Trevor said he had spent the past couple of years working on the car to get it ready for this trip. It was truly amazing! They began their Route 66 journey in Santa Monica and are traveling to Chicago.

We also welcomed Soleil and Bernard from France. They were impressed that I had information in French about the museum's history as the Reynolds Hotel. We communicated through Google Translate, and I took screenshots of everything she shared about the museum. They were such a sweet and gracious couple! They even gave me a purple Eiffel Tower keychain-without knowing that purple is my favorite color!

Other visitors that day included Pierluigi and Roselle from Romem, Italy, and their cousin Gerry from Nashville, Tennessee. They enjoyed the museum and thought ti was wonderful. I had a great visit with them. Thank you for stopping by!

September was a wonderful and busy month, with 263 visitors. Our guests came from 26 U.S. states and seven foreign countries, including France, Switzerland, England, Hungary, Canada, Ireland and Spain.

October is off to a busy start as well. On Friday, October 2, we welcomed approximately 125 members of the Texas Old Route 66 Association. We had a wonderful time and greatly appreciated their visit! 🙂

Among the group were two couples taking a lawn chair on an adventure along Route 66. Their story is featured in one of the pictures.

On Saturday, Lynn, formerly of Shamrock, visited us from Lakeland, Florida, with his wife, Amy, and their dog, Finley. Lynn brought a beautiful typewriter that had belonged to his grandmother, Mrs. C.T. Palmer. She used it to prepare checks and correspondence for the family's oil and gas business and ranch. Thank you so much for bringing it and sharing its history with us. We truly enjoyed visiting with both of you. Lynn, it was wonderful to see you again!

Today, we welcomed visitors from several cities in France. They flew into Chicago and are traveling along Route 66 to California. One gentleman read a paper in French about the museum's history as the Reynolds Hotel. It was wonderful to hear him share the story in his own language. It was a pleasure meeting and visiting with each of you. We wish you a wonderful and safe journey! ☘️🙂☘️

Jerry and Kathy from Yuba City, California visited us today. Jerry's relatives lived in Shamrock in the 1920s. He is going to send me more information about them, and I am looking forward to learning more about them.

Jerry and Kathy have a page called Dead-Fred. They take pictures of him in different scenarios as they travel Route 66. They flew to Chicago and are making their way back home to California. Kathy gave me a pair of Route 66 earrings that she made with Dead-Fred sitting in the car.

My friend Rick, who lives in Yorkshire, England, surprised me with a visit this morning. He has been coming to the United States since the 1980s and for the past three years, has visited me in both the fall and the spring. After his firsts couple of visits, I asked, "Why do you keep coming to Shamrock?" He simply replied, "Because I like Shamrock." That's a good enough reason for me! 🙂

Saturday was a exciting day at the museum! We welcomed 68 motorcyclists from Ireland known as the Irish 66er's. After flying into Chicago, they set out to travel Route 66 and are headed toward California. They were a wonderful group, and I thoroughly enjoyed visiting with them and hearing them talk. 🙂

We also welcomed Kathy from Shamrock, her brother Pat, and Pat's wife, Carol from Houston. They brought Pat's band jacket from his years in the Shamrock High School band and it will be proudly displayed in our Ex-Student building for everyone to enjoy. Pat was a member of the Texas All-State band (flute) in 1962 and graduated from Shamrock High School in 1963.

Ronda and Mary from Womelsdorf, Pennsylvania, visited us today. They flew to California to begin their Route 66 adventure and chose Shamrock as their final destination before flying home tomorrow. The trip was a special celebration of their 53rd anniversary. Mary said, You are our final stop on Route 66, and what better way to end it than by coming to this museum and meeting you!" I wanted to share a picture of our beautiful lantanas before the season comes to an end. All these blooms come from just one plant on each side. Every winter, we cross our fingers and hope they survive-and each year, they return even bigger and fuller.

The flowers attract so many of God's beautiful creatures, and watching them flutter and buzz among the blooms is such a joy. Their variety of colors is truly amazing. We even had a few hummingbirds visit last week, but they moved so quickly that capturing a good picture was a challenge.

Gary and Kathy from Goodyear, Arizona, and Nick and Judy from Yuma, Arizona, visited us a couple of days ago. They thought the museum was amazing! As I was taking their photo, our new Mayor, Kenneth Campbell, stopped by. They were thrilled to have their photo taken with him. 🙂

The Mazuryle family from Newton Jersey, also stopped by. Originally from Russia, they moved to New Jersey in 1991. They are enjoying their travels along Route 66.
