TUGBOAT TUESDAY:

Our historic tugboat ARTHUR FOSS (1889) is likely the oldest wooden tug afloat. Recent sad news from Port Townsend and New York state makes it likely she is now the oldest tug of any kind afloat in the United States, as well.

The iron canal tug ELISE ANN CONNERS (1881) was scrapped last year in Kingston, New York. She was the only known tug older than ARTHUR FOSS in the U.S. Read more about it here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/boatporn/comments/zg4591/141_year_old_tug_hauled_out_for_scrapping_elisa/

The wooden tug ELMORE (1890) is up for auction or scrapping in Port Townsend. She is the only other surviving Klondike Gold Rush participant besides ARTHUR FOSS. Read more about it here:

https://www.ptleader.com/stories/elmore-auction-ends-without-bids,175852?

These are just a few examples of how rapidly historic vessels are disappearing, underlining how important and rare Seattle's Historic Ships Wharf is. Thanks to all those who have provided support!

Donations are greatly appreciated, as always.
