What if your still life wasnât still at all? đ
Rain City Clay (our sister studio) thrilled to welcome ceramic sculptor Alanna DeRocchi to Rain City Clay this December for A Curious Collectionâa two-day hands-on workshop exploring contemporary still life, sculpture, scale, composition, and storytelling.
Alannaâs work takes familiar thingsâfood, objects, animals, the stuff we encounter every dayâand gives them a strange, playful, sometimes unexpected new life. Her sculptures are full of humor and curiosity, while also digging into ideas of memory, desire, accumulation, care, and what we choose to pay attention to.
And this is a chance to work alongside her, not just watch a demo. Alanna will break down her approach to building larger handbuilt forms, talk through structure and support, and help you think about how individual objects come together to create a story.
You might make something funny.
Something weird.
Something beautiful.
Maybe all three.
