Here is a photo of the old septic field behind the (now demolished) workers' housing. The housing was a single barracks building with two floors, with a communal bathroom and kitchen on the ground floor (with the foreman's apartment) and 10 small apartments on the upper floor. The building was one of the first on the site and only converted to workers housing after the manor house was finished. Loggers and lumbermen were the first workers to use the building, during the final logging of West Seattle, but later it housed the gardeners, the stablers, blacksmith, carpenter, and West Seattle's first two foundry men.

This pendant of naturally sculpted Madrona wood is a insightful commentary on the current state of our capitalist society.

The powers of nature are shown not in relation, unbalanced fundaments have rendered fruitful activity impossible. The gorgeous deformities of this piece show our inner weakness exposed to the outside harshness of the culture we've created. The distracted and unfocused are in the center, pushing that which is of a higher importance to the periphery. The center twisted and deformed, with those of strong moral character retreating to the outside.

Most importantly though, are two more subtle messages contained in the piece.
First is to react without hate. Hate is the kind of human involvement that only binds us more tightly to our problems. In nature we see the reaction without passion required to create beauty of form while changing the inner conditions.
And finally, that the victims of these inferior distractions who hold power in our society are beginning to feel shame in their hearts, even if they have not yet begun to show it outwardly.

This pendant is hand carved from natural windfall (no trees were harmed in the making of this adornment)

tree nymph familiar
we don't see these around the factory as much as we used to, which we hope is due to their abilities and not the lack of trees, much less holy trees suitable for a proper nymph. Also, we try to leave the darker corners and less penetrable thickets alone so there can still be something undiscovered in the suburbs.
This particular familiar is a eulah sheffield tree nymph familiar, from a long line of traditional, blue veined speicists - thankfully, this particular eulah sheffield has kept the important species traits without maintaining many of the negative traits so common in highly in**ed varieties.
Feline grace with a spotted past, this familiar is artistic in the best ways - practicing without external reason, creating as a practice. Spectacular in the garden, maintaining life around her, safeguarding nature for the future. Experienced coast to coast, shrewd, politic, mature.
This familiar is not in the grandmotherly mode, spoiling and overprotective. Rather is the eulah sheffield variety the proper and respected great aunt familiar, adored and respected but never taken advantage of, and heartbreaking to disappoint.

now inanimate.
