Tackapausha Museum is a Nassau County museum located in Seaford. We have over 100 different live animals. We offer Educational Programs, Birthday Parties, Community Service Projects, and Boy and Girl Scout programs/badges.

We are beyond excited to announce the expansion of our Egyptian Fruit bat enclosure. Its not quite finished yet, theres some painting and enhancements to complete before the bats move back in. A huge thank you to Sarap Construction Inc. , our Friends of Tackapausha, Inc. , Nassau County Parks, and WINORR- Wildlife In Need of Rescue and Rehabilitation. We started with 4 bats and the family has grown to 9 with possible another on the way.
Event starts at noon. Presentations will be at 12:15, 1:30pm and 3pm. Tickets for all program times will be available when museum opens at 11am. Please be aware tickets are $10 per person. Sorry we can only accept cash or checks only. No credit cards.

We would like to thank everyone from troop #3332 for planting this amazing vegetable garden. The plants will be fed to our resident animals.

It is with much sadness we share the news of the passing of one of our most beloved reptiles. "Glassy" our European Glass Lizard has passed away this past weekend. He came to live at Tackapausha in 1976. For 41 years Glassy educated thousands of children and adults about how amazing and interesting reptiles can be. Very often visitors asked why he was a lizard, not a snake and he was an awesome ambassador for explaining the difference. He will be greatly missed. Today!!! as part of our Raptors program starting at 1pm we have a special guest in our aviaries. A non-releasable SNOWY OWL !!!!
This Saturday come check out amazing birds of prey from WINORR- Wildlife In Need of Rescue and Rehabilitation. All proceeds from this program go directly to support wildlife rehabilitation. Bring your cameras!! Raptor photography opportunites after presentation!! Tickets will be available starting Friday, November 24th 11am.

YES we are open today New Years Eve and Sunday New Years Day. Regular hours 11am to 4pm.
Due to the holidays the museum will be CLOSED today Saturday December 24th and Sunday December 25th. We apologize for any inconvenience. We will be opened an extra day this week - Wednesday December 28th at regular hours of 11am to 4pm. Hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday season.
