๐Ÿ“ข Exciting news! Next week, we'll be welcoming a whole new collection of wardrobes and props on loan from NBCUniversal.

Get ready to see a fresh lineup of authentic, screen-used items from some of the series' funniest and most memorable moments. But there's a catch: this is your last chance to see many of the props currently on display before they return to the NBC archives.

Featured here is an outfit worn by actress Angela Kinsey in her role as Angela Martin in the Season 8 episode "The Fundraiser," which aired on April 26, 2012. In the episode, the Dunder Mifflin staff attends a fundraiser for shelter dogs hosted by Angela's husband, State Senator Robert Lipton.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฒโœˆ๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง From Scranton to Slough!

Today, The Office UK celebrates the 25th anniversary of its premiere, and we're excited to announce a first-of-a-kind group tour to England in July 2027.

In partnership with Collette Tours and Travel World, the Everhart will lead a seven-day, six-night adventure exploring the shared legacy of Scranton and Slough, the town that inspired the original The Office. In addition to exploring the locales of the series, travelers will journey to nearby London to experience iconic landmarks, historic sites, world-class museums, and cultural attractions.

The original UK series premiered in 2001, introducing audiences to the fictional Wernham Hogg paper company in Slough. A few years later, the American adaptation chose Scranton as the home of Dunder Mifflin, turning the Electric City into an iconic part of television history. Now, we're inviting fans and travelers alike to celebrate that special connection.

Join us as we celebrate the unique bond between two cities forever linked by television history. Registration opens soon. For more information and to sign up to receive updates, visit https://everhart-museum.org/pages/scranton-to-slough

This Thursday, July 9, is the 25th Anniversary of the first episode of The Office UK! The first episode, titled โ€œDownsize,โ€ first aired on July 9, 2001 on BBC Two.

The mockumentary series, created and written by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, follows the day-to-day antics of the staff at the Slough, England branch of the fictional Wernham Hogg paper company. Of course, we have this series to thank for inspiring The Office US, which shifted the location to our own Scranton, PA.

To celebrate this special occasion and the connection between the two series, the Everhart Museum is planning to make a HUGE announcement in the coming days!

Weโ€™re excited to unveil the latest edition to ๐˜›๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜–๐˜ง๐˜ง๐˜ช๐˜ค๐˜ฆ ๐˜Œ๐˜น๐˜ฉ๐˜ช๐˜ฃ๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ: Dwight Schruteโ€™s coffee can lamp, which first appears in the Season 7 episode "China,โ€ originally airing December 2, 2010.

In the episode, Dwight purchases the building in which Dunder Mifflin is located and decides to open a coffee shop called Dwightโ€™s Caffeine Corner. Located in the office lobby, the venture is an attempt to capitalize on a captive market of his co-workers through highly inflated prices.

This lamp is now part of our exhibition courtesy of Jim McDermott, series leadman, who created the prop.

Last month, we welcomed ๐˜–๐˜ง๐˜ง๐˜ช๐˜ค๐˜ฆ crew member Jim McDermott, who served as the series leadman assisting the set decorator, to the Everhart for a special meet and greet alongside Bob Vance actor Bobby Ray Schafer. Weโ€™re excited to now have a display of memorabilia dedicated to McDermott and his crucial role in making the set of the show feel authentically Scranton!

Seen here are some cool mementos of recognition McDermott received and so generously lent to us: a Dundie for โ€œBest Leadman,โ€ a gag certificate for completing a Dunder Mifflin sales course, a โ€œWorldโ€™s Best Crewโ€ mug nodding to Michael Scottโ€™s famous โ€œWorldโ€™s Best Bossโ€ mug, and a mug bearing the showโ€™s original working title ๐˜›๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜–๐˜ง๐˜ง๐˜ช๐˜ค๐˜ฆ: ๐˜ˆ๐˜ฏ ๐˜ˆ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ค๐˜ข๐˜ฏ ๐˜ž๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ๐˜ฌ๐˜ฑ๐˜ญ๐˜ข๐˜ค๐˜ฆ.

This nameplate, on loan from NBCUniversal, can be seen adorning Dunder Mifflin accountant Kevin Malone's desk in several episodes of the series.

As a running gag, rather than facing it outward where clients or colleagues could see it, Kevin often kept the nameplate facing him so only he could read it. Actor Brian Baumgartner, who played Kevin, has said that this hilarious quirk perfectly suits Kevin's slow-witted persona on the show.

At the conclusion of the series, Baumgartner kept another copy of the nameplate as a memento.

๐Ÿ’ฅTwo worlds collided in Season 7 of ๐˜›๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜–๐˜ง๐˜ง๐˜ช๐˜ค๐˜ฆ (๐˜œ๐˜š) when Michael Scott, portrayed by Steve Carell, came face-to-face with his British counterpart from ๐˜›๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜–๐˜ง๐˜ง๐˜ช๐˜ค๐˜ฆ (๐˜œ๐˜’) David Brent, played by Ricky Gervais.

Pictured here is the outfit Gervais, who created the original ๐˜›๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜–๐˜ง๐˜ง๐˜ช๐˜ค๐˜ฆ and served as producer and occasional writer on the American adaptation, wore in the episode โ€œThe Seminar.โ€ In one of the seriesโ€™ most memorable crossover moments, David and Michael meet in an elevator, bonding over awkward humor, tasteless cultural stereotypes, and a perfectly delivered โ€œThatโ€™s what she saidโ€ delivered by David. David returns later that season in a cringe-worthy video interview for the open managerial position at Dunder Mifflin when Michael leaves.

On a related note, the 25th Anniversary of the FIRST episode of ๐˜›๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜–๐˜ง๐˜ง๐˜ช๐˜ค๐˜ฆ (๐˜œ๐˜’) is coming up this summer. Written by Stephen Merchant and Ricky Gervais, the 1first episode was screened on BBC Two on July 9, 2001. The sitcom was presented as a mock documentary, based in the Slough, England (UK) branch of the paper supply company Wernham Hogg.

To mark this date, we are hosting an event here at the Everhart on Thursday, July 9 where we will discuss plans for an upcoming trip from Scranton to Slough! Stay tuned for detailsโ€ฆ
