When he chose Scranton as the home of Dunder Mifflin’s featured branch, he put our city on the map in a way few could have imagined. From that day forward, fans around the world have come to know Scranton and make the pilgrimage to the city that inspired the show.

This new docuseries traces 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘖𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘦 from its modest beginnings through its rise to cultural icon with a special focus on its connection to Scranton, both on the show and in real life.

Local people were interviewed for “Fan Level Midnight: Devoted to The Office” which will appear on the Peacock network.

🥋 New wardrobe spotlight: Dwight Schrute’s Karategi!

In Season 2, Episode 6 of 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘖𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘦, entitled “The Fight,” Dwight proudly boasts about his karate skills, prompting Jim to stir up a rivalry between Dwight and Michael. The competition eventually makes its way to Dwight’s dojo, where the office gathers to watch Dwight take on Michael, with the latter using a few questionable tactics to claim victory.

This karategi is one of many original wardrobes and props recently loaned to us by NBCUniversal as we’ve re-curated 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘖𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘌𝘹𝘩𝘪𝘣𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 to highlight some of the series’ most memorable moments.

🇬🇧As 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘖𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘦 UK celebrates its 25th anniversary, the Everhart is honoring the connection between Scranton, home of 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘖𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘦 US, and its counterpart in Slough, England, with a seven-day, six-night international adventure in July 2027!

In partnership with Collette Tours and Travel World, this special journey will explore Slough, the town that inspired the original series, and nearby London, with a mix of 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘖𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘦 UK locations, British history, culture, and iconic landmarks.

Highlights include a walking tour of Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, and Buckingham Palace; a foodie tour through a London market; visits to the Tower of London and Kensington Palace; an excursion to Windsor Castle with a stop in Slough; and more.

Join us this Thursday, August 27 at 6 p.m. at the Everhart for a free information session with Travel World and Collette Tours. Space is limited and registration is suggested.The session takes place during Summertime Happy Hour, where AV Restaurant will have a cash bar and musical act Two of Us (Beatles Tribute) featuring Jack Bordo and Jamie Van Wert will bring a British feel to the event with covers of Beatles classics from 5 to 7 p.m.

Featured here is an outfit worn by actress Angela Kinsey in her role as Angela Martin in the Season 8 episode "The Fundraiser," which aired on April 26, 2012. In the episode, the Dunder Mifflin staff attends a fundraiser for shelter dogs hosted by Angela's husband, State Senator Robert Lipton.

🇺🇲✈️🇬🇧 From Scranton to Slough!

Today, The Office UK celebrates the 25th anniversary of its premiere, and we're excited to announce a first-of-a-kind group tour to England in July 2027.

In partnership with Collette Tours and Travel World, the Everhart will lead a seven-day, six-night adventure exploring the shared legacy of Scranton and Slough, the town that inspired the original The Office. In addition to exploring the locales of the series, travelers will journey to nearby London to experience iconic landmarks, historic sites, world-class museums, and cultural attractions.

The original UK series premiered in 2001, introducing audiences to the fictional Wernham Hogg paper company in Slough. A few years later, the American adaptation chose Scranton as the home of Dunder Mifflin, turning the Electric City into an iconic part of television history. Now, we're inviting fans and travelers alike to celebrate that special connection.

This Thursday, July 9, is the 25th Anniversary of the first episode of The Office UK! The first episode, titled “Downsize,” first aired on July 9, 2001 on BBC Two.

The mockumentary series, created and written by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, follows the day-to-day antics of the staff at the Slough, England branch of the fictional Wernham Hogg paper company. Of course, we have this series to thank for inspiring The Office US, which shifted the location to our own Scranton, PA.

To celebrate this special occasion and the connection between the two series, the Everhart Museum is planning to make a HUGE announcement in the coming days!

We’re excited to unveil the latest edition to 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘖𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘌𝘹𝘩𝘪𝘣𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯: Dwight Schrute’s coffee can lamp, which first appears in the Season 7 episode "China,” originally airing December 2, 2010.

In the episode, Dwight purchases the building in which Dunder Mifflin is located and decides to open a coffee shop called Dwight’s Caffeine Corner. Located in the office lobby, the venture is an attempt to capitalize on a captive market of his co-workers through highly inflated prices.

This lamp is now part of our exhibition courtesy of Jim McDermott, series leadman, who created the prop.

As the nation approaches America250, we are counting down ways NEPA has powered American history. No. 15 is “The Office.”
