El Quartelejo Museum

At El Quartelejo Museum, we believe everyone who walks through our doors is more than a visitor. You’re a person with a story worth keeping.

That’s the idea behind our Community Memories Podcast, From Dust To Roots, kicking off in January 2027. This is a place where neighbors share the moments, work, and memories that shaped our community.

This giving month, help us keep a place at the table for every story. You can give to our fund Scott Community Foundation.

Behind every exhibit is a member, a donor, a neighbor, a story. None of this happens without you!

Who keeps El Quartelejo Museum going? You do!

Our funding is a true community partnership:

The City of Scott City supports us through a sales tax grant that we compete for each year, and we’re grateful for the trust.

Scott County invests in us through a grant request, recognizing the museum as a community asset.

Members and donors like you make up the rest. Your gifts fill the gap between what grants provide and what it takes to care for our collections, host our programs, and keep the doors open.

Public support gets us started. Private support makes the difference. This giving month, help us keep the doors open and the stories coming through our fund at the Scott Community Foundation.

Stop in this week and explore some history!

Exhibits. Receptions. Community events. Quiet afternoons with a good story. Coffee and cookies.

This year alone, 3,000 people came through our doors for 5 new exhibits, 17 workshops, 13 educational events, including 10 partnerships, and 252 coffee conversations! A museum is one of the few places where neighbors of every generation share the same room.

At El Quartelejo Museum & the Jerry Thomas Gallery & Collection, we work to preserve and honor the history of this region, including its Indigenous heritage, in ways that are accurate, respectful, and open to everyone. Giving month through Scott Community Foundation helps us keep those stories cared for and shared.

Give to history that belongs to all of us: https://scottcf.fcsuite.com/erp/donate/create/fund?funit_id=1077

Millions of years ago, western Kansas looked very different.

Today, the Western KS Fossil Lab is where those discoveries get cleaned, studied, and cared for. Your gift during giving month helps us store, catalog, and share these specimens with researchers, students, and curious visitors of every age.
