FURBISH DONATES HISTORY TO WALTON'S MOUNTAIN MUSEUM
PHOTO OF JOHN BOY'S AUNT
When Bill Harrison spotted a photo donated to his favorite thrift store, the name on the frame caught his eye. Nora Spencer Hamner was first public health nurse in Virginia. She traveled over 47 counties in her Model T Ford, establishing tuberculosis clinics throughout southwest Virginia. She was the first woman to serve on the Board of Trustees of the MCV Alumni Association. Plus...she was the aunt of Earl Hamner aka John Boy Walton! Pictured is Bill donating the picture to Alison Morgan of the Walton's Mountain Museum. Now, Nora is back home and will remain with her family forever.
