The guys are finishing up the base this morning for the 6 ft. steel Route 66 shield to be installed soon on 4th Street in front of the museum. It is a gift from the Oklahoma Route 66 Centennial Commission and will serve as an Instagram-worthy landmark, boosting foot traffic and civic pride. One side will feature a Sayre-specific design and the other will be the Route 66 shield. The fabrication, delivery and installation are fully funded by the Commission, headed by Lt Gov Matt Pinnell.

Here is a little progress report on the old room that was the old library (and police station) at the museum. I am renovating the inside to use as a display room or welcome center or something. Not sure yet. The top picture was a while ago. The bottom picture is today.

I've torn down as much as I think I'm going to. It's time to start rebuilding. I'm going to start putting up drywall on the ceiling next week.

There is going to be a community blood drive Thursday, December 4th at the Sayre Public Library, 12pm-4pm. This is with the OBI, Oklahoma Blood Institute. Come give blood and I will give you a tour of the museum as a prize!
