Friday was the final day of Color Me Happy Art Camp and we were treated to a tour of the Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum with an incredible educator, Ms. Valerie Granzow. After viewing the exhibits, the campers got to make artistic ship sails and flags and also explore the gardens with scavenger hunt. What fun we had!!!

Session 2, Art camp: on Thursday we got to visit both the Telfair and Jepson Museums. Ms. Fleming and Ms Grohovsky gave us incredible tours. We learned about landscapes, portraits, action pieces and it all culminated in the magical children's art section CAM where we were enthralled by animated art. Upon our return to Massie we created beach scenes on canvas, with paint and natural materials, instructed by Ms. Ayela.

Wednesday: Art campers headed to the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace Museum. After a tour of the exquisite home where they learned about the life and art of the Girlscouts founder, they were engaged in creating portraits of their buddies. Upon returning to Massie, Ms Ayela provided oil pastels and recycled materials to create Rothko inspired landscapes.

Tuesday: Art campers visited Bonaventure Cemetary with our knowledgeable guide, Enocha. The campers braved muggy weather to learn about monuments and cemetery symbolism with a scavenger hunt. After returning to Massie, Ms. Ayela provided clay and natural materials for the children who produced incredible sculpture garden models.

Day 5 of Color Me Happy Art camp: A lovely fieldtrip to the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace Museum with our wonderful guide and instructor, Alec Nation. After a tour of the house and learning about the life, times and art of Juliette, Alec taught the campers self portraits with the most charming results!
