Representatives from Tigers for Troops will be available to assist veterans who need help navigating or accessing their benefits.

All veterans are welcome! You do not have to live in Andrew County to attend.

An American Revolution recently took place in Andrew County, as elementary students learned about the nation’s history during the Andrew County Museum’s three-day Colonial Kids’ Camp.

The Andrew County Museum is preparing for our upcoming Winter Event, and we need your help!

This year’s Winter Event theme is “Hard Candy Christmas,” and we’re looking for items to borrow from museum members and community residents.

Do you have a homemade Christmas gift you’ve given or received, or handmade decorations that hold special memories? We’d love to include these items in our display and share the stories and traditions behind them with our visitors.

Items for the Christmas display are needed by November 13 to allow time to prepare the exhibit before the Winter Event.

Looking Ahead: Celebrating the Towns of Andrew County

We’re also beginning to plan programs highlighting the history of Andrew County’s towns and communities.

We’re looking for historical items, photographs, memorabilia, and other materials related to the following communities:
Savannah, Fillmore, Bolckow, Rea, Whitesville, Empire Prairie, Helena, Cosby, Amazonia, Country Club, Flag Springs, Nodaway, Rochester, and Rosendale.

We’re also interested in communities that no longer have a post office or population sign, including Avenue City, Boston, Cawood, Dean, Elrod’s Mill, Fox’s Mill, Fountainbleau, Jamestown, Kodiak, Mackie, Nida, Ogle’s Mill, Ohio Mills, Parker, Long’s Corner, Rankin, Taylorville, Waldeck, and Wyeth.

Andrew County also has some unusual place names, including Monkey Mountain, Happy Hollow, Brush Africa, Bristle Ridge, and Crackers’ Neck near Fish-Trap. We’d love to learn more about the history behind these places, too!

Do you have old photographs, family keepsakes, business memorabilia, or other items connected to any of these communities? We welcome loans for future displays, as well as stories, memories, and historical information that can help us develop our programs.

Our goal is to preserve and share Andrew County’s history, and community members are an important part of that effort.

Thank you to everyone who came out and played Halloween Trivia. We hope you had as much fun as we did.

Congratulations to our winning team, The Hallowinners! The team included Janet Russell, Erica Mullins, Ella Mullins, Lily Gramer, Carolyn Taylor, Janice Gramer, Molly Gramer and Joey Gramer.

The best costume of the night went to Joyce Lawrence dressed as ‘Nurse Ratched’

Door prize winners were Phil Lewis,Marti Athens, Steve Allen, and Rachel Arn.

Our next trivia night will be in November, with the date to be announced soon. Thank you to everyone who continues to support the museum. We appreciate you and couldn’t do these events without you!

Hello, everyone!

We have a lot going on here at the museum and wanted to send out a few reminders about some exciting upcoming events. Mark your calendars and join us when you can!

Halloween Trivia Night — October 6 at 6:30
Get ready for a spooky and fun evening of Halloween-themed trivia! Costumes are encouraged, so come dressed in your Halloween best!
Seating is limited, so be sure to call the museum and reserve your table ahead of time.
We hope you'll join us for a fun night of trivia, costumes, and good company!

Meet & Greet with Anneliese Duncan — October 8
Anneliese Duncan will be here at the museum for a special meet and greet from 5:00–6:30 p.m.
If you'd like to reconnect with Anneliese or meet her for the first time, please stop by and say hello!
At 6:00 p.m., we will also have a short program about Harry Duncan. We hope you'll take this opportunity to learn a little more about his story and legacy.

Trunk or Treat — Coming Up!
Our Trunk or Treat event is also right around the corner! This will be held October 31 from 4:30-6:30
If you're interested in participating by decorating a table and handing out candy, we'd love to have you join us. The event will be held inside the Duncan Gallery, so everyone can stay warm and dry no matter what the weather is like outside!
Not able to participate but still want to help? We are also accepting candy donations! Every donation helps us make the evening fun and welcoming for our trick-or-treaters.
Our goal is to provide a fun, safe, and family-friendly evening for everyone who comes out to celebrate Halloween with us.

We hope to see you at one—or all—of these upcoming events!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our annual Membership & Volunteer Dinner last night! It was a fun evening celebrating the members and volunteers who make the Andrew County Museum so special.

It was wonderful to see so many people in attendance and we are grateful for everyone who came out to enjoy the evening with us. We’re especially glad we were able to celebrate with a Roarin’ 20s party!

Here are a few pictures from the evening. I tried to get photos of everyone, but I definitely missed several people!
