GSRM offers daily tours, student programming, private tour and event bookings, and more! The repair shops complex that houses Georgia State Railroad Museum is recognized as the largest collection of Antebellum railroad structures in the United States. The historic railroad structures at the Georgia State Railroad Museum site include a partial Roundhouse with operating turntable, partial Machine Shop, Tender Frame Shop, Blacksmith Shop, Boiler House, Storehouse & Print Shop, Lumber and Planing Sheds, Coach and Paint Shops, and a partial Carpentry Shop which now houses Savannah Children's Museum. Many of these structures are open for visitors to explore.

A little magic goes a long way, especially with amazing Frogwarts community partners!

Thank you to Tybee Island Marine Science Center for bringing Whale Wizards to Frogwarts with their Walk-In Whale Smoke, an inflatable adult right whale (45x25 ft) - plus whale artifacts and a whale origami activity.

Also, watch for costumed characters from our community partner Savannah Children’s Theatre strolling the grounds of Georgia State Railroad Museum and Savannah Children’s Museum.

Join us Sunday, Oct. 25, 11AM–3PM in Savannah for a wizardry day featuring train rides, reptiles, owls, wand-making, potions, hands-on STEAM activities, a Teddy Bear Hospital and more.

Your train time is NOT your arrival time. Gates open at 11AM, so come early and make a whole day of it.

Georgia State Railroad Museum and Savannah Children's Museum will transport children to the magical world of wizards this month.

Coastal Heritage Society’s annual “Frogwarts: A Magical Adventure!” is on Sunday, Oct. 25, 11AM-3PM.

The popular event combines hands-on STEAM activities with the fantasy world of wizards. Activities include potion making; herbology; glow-in-the-dark arts; whale wizards with Tybee Island Marine Science Center's inflatable whale; train and handcar rides; plus food trucks.

Your Frogwarts train time isn’t your arrival time! Gates open at 11AM, so come early and enjoy a full day of activities with nearly 20 community partners. We’re so grateful to all our partners and volunteers for making this popular event possible!

Bring your favorite stuffie as Medical College of Georgia-Savannah students will be doing a Care of Magical Critters aka Teddy bear hospital.

Guests also can craft wooden wands with Lowcountry Turners and meet animals from Callaway Critters and Georgia Southern Center for Wildlife Education.

Savannah’s Frogwarts Fall Festival is almost here, so we’re stocking up on FUN! 👻

Our gift shop at Georgia State Railroad Museum and Savannah Children’s Museum is ready. Find fun like skeleton Pete the Cat, spooky storybooks, and more just in time for Frogwarts on Sunday, Oct. 25th, 11AM-3PM.

Looking ahead: we also have two beautiful hardback children’s books by authors from Marietta, Ga., who are coming to Savannah Children’s Museum next month!

Join us Sunday, November 15th, 10:30-11:30AM for a special author visit and book signing with Kelly Young-Silverman, author of “Hot Boiled Peanuts”, and mother-daughter duo Rosalind and Maggie Bunn, authors of “All Aboard, Georgia!”.

⚗️ Practicing potions experiments because things are about to get a little magical in the Blacksmith Shop at Frogwarts!

At FROGWARTS in Savannah on Sunday, Oct. 25th, watch museum educators Mr. Jamal and Mr. Ian team up with Coastal Heritage Society volunteer and Richmond Hill Elementary School teacher Robert Covino for spellbinding potion experiments featuring bubbling wish bubbles, disappearing ink, fast fog and even a growing magical hand!

Potions classes are at 12:15, 1:15 and 2 PM, with the first two classes immediately following a special concert by students with Garrison Voices from Garrison Elementary School!

Join us for a little science and lots of surprises at Frogwarts: A Magical Adventure!

Traffic alert for Saturday, October 17th.

Attention visitors to Georgia State Railroad Museum, Savannah Children’s Museum, and Savannah History Museum, Savannah State University Homecoming parade at 9:30AM Saturday, October 17th may affect access to those sites.

The parade route will start at Liberty and East Broad streets, continue west on Broughton Street, and turn south onto Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, disbanding at Anderson Street.

Please note the parade route map and plan your route accordingly.

Harper Fowlkes House will be closed this Saturday, October 17th for a private event. Harper Fowlkes House will resume regular hours on Monday, Oct. 19th 10AM-3PM with the last tour at 2PM.

*a special open day at Pin Point Heritage Museum from 10AM–2PM. Tours at 10:30AM, 11:30AM and 12:30PM.

*train rides on the hour from 10AM–3PM at Georgia State Railroad Museum
