Thanks Statesboro Herald for this article on our new exhibit featuring nearly restored American Revolutionary War cannons.

This exhibition - Loyalists & Liberty: Savannah in the American Revolution - opens July 3rd at Savannah History Museum, just in time for America’s 250th anniversary.

The cannons were recovered in 2021-22 from the Savannah River off the shores of Old Fort Jackson.

The cannons underwent years of conservation in Texas after being in the Savannah River for about 240 years.

Experts believe the cannons sank to the bottom of the Savannah River during the American Revolution.

"Threads of Freedom" is a live cultural fashion production inspired by the legacy of Susie King Taylor and honoring the spirit of Juneteenth through storytelling, movement, and artistic expression.

For one night, the stage will transform into a journey of art, runway fashion, dance, spoken word & living legacy.

*A LIVE painter creating an original artwork in real time
*A spoken word poet delivering powerful words that move and empower legacy
