Clay tells stories.

For 20 years, the Folk Pottery Museum has shared the stories of Northeast Georgia's potters: their craft, their creativity, and the traditions passed down through generations. What began as a vision to preserve this heritage has become a place where visitors can connect with over 200 years of folk pottery history.

As we celebrate our 20th anniversary, we're asking our community to help write the next chapter.

Leave Your Mark with a gift to the museum and help ensure these stories continue to be told for generations to come.

Thank you for supporting the past, present, and future of folk pottery.

Generations in Clay: The Meaders Family Legacy | Sponsored by the Folk Pottery Museum of Northeast Georgia

There’s a place in White County history where the chimney still stands… and the Meaders pottery legacy still lives on through generations of family hands.

Episode 3 of Generations in Clay |Sponsored by the Folk Pottery Museum of Northeast Georgia — tells the story of Mary Meaders and her daughter, Lelia, descendants of one of the South’s most influential pottery families. From Smithsonian recognition to hand-drawn sketches by pioneering potter Arie Meaders, this piece explores a legacy shaped by clay, family, and tradition passed from one generation to the next.

Special thanks to the Folk Pottery Museum of Northeast Georgia, for helping us share and preserve these incredible North Georgia pottery stories. Visit the beautiful museum in Sautee Nacoochee located at the Sautee Nacoochee Center.
