Shidoni Arts Gallery and Sculpture Gardens

SHIDONI ARTS is a gallery of textures and colors: wood, metal, clay, glass, stone, paint, canvas, paper, resin and fiber. These and other materials are carved, turned, bent, painted, fired, hammered or thrown into wonderful objects that challenge the eye and dazzle the imagination. Visiting our spacious premises is a sensory experience: a blacksmith’s ga

te, or a woodworker’s cabinet interacts with an exquisite blown glass vase, or a photographer’s digital print. Shidoni Arts is a unique environment equally suited to the seasoned or the novice collector. We cordially invite you come and see for yourself the truly unique and special place that is Shidoni Gallery.

To our dear friends and visitors -
We have some important news to share. At the end of March 2023, Shidoni's doors will be closing. The last day to visit the gallery will be December 31st, 2022. It has been a fantastic 52 years. We're sad to deliver this news, but it is the right time for Shidoni to retire.
This November and December, we're hosting a sale the likes of which Shidoni has never seen! January through March we'll be focusing on packing up and moving out, but you'll still be welcome to visit the sculpture garden.

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of World War II, Northern Arizona University commissioned sculptor and alumnus R.C. Gorman to design and build the Navajo Code Talkers Monument. Unveiled on Veterans Day, 1995, the monument stands as a dedication to the 400 Navajo marines who used their native language as a code to transmit messages in the Pacific Theater. Despite determined efforts, the Japanese military could not decipher the Navajo Code.
Gorman modeled the 4' bronze monument after this life-size bronze of his father Carl Gorman, a noted Navajo painter and teacher and one of the original Code Talkers. Describing his work, Gorman said, "I chose to model a bust after my father because he has such a strong face. It's intended to be a tribute to Navajos."

Clarke Blair has been in Shidoni Gallery since 2006. When people ask , "Is that a Calder?" I have to chuckle a little. This is the last mobile we'll get from Clarke but just look at what he's doing now!
Made from such wood combinations as Walnut and Cherry, Cherry, Oak, Maple and Walnut, Maple and Walnut, Teak and Maple. And what I admire most is that the craftsmanship is every bit that of the mobiles. He's impeccable.
