Edward Nemec Fine Art

Edward Nemec Fine Art Both my facebook and website pages are spaces where my art and limited edition prints are available for you to peruse and to purchase.

This page is about my landscape paintings. But it also about something much greater than that. It's about my long held devotion and love of the sacred lands of New Mexico and the Southwest. Since my early days of painting landscapes in the 60's until now, I have tried to the best of my ability to convey visually my excitement and joy that I experience looking at these lands. I was told by a dear f

riend and mentor that...'art was the combination of the mind, the hand, the eye and the heart all ending up in your fingertips'.

Just realized why I don't plain air paint. I do drawings live and take tons of pics of landscapes and clouds, but I use them only for reference, not to paint from. What I do, without realizing it, is take what I see and allow my mind to create or re-create that initial experience. The mind is creating and ending up in my fingers and on a 2D surface. The incredible powers of the sub conscious mind.
I realized this after listening to Allan Ginsberg being interviewed by Ram Das. Powerful!

Had the most incredible birthday I've ever had yesterday. Chrissy and I did everything I wanted to do and we had a blast! Shopping for a new phone, lunch @ Harry's Roadside (one of my very favs), the entire late afternoon into evening at 10,00 waves, then a light dinner at Tune Up Cafe. PERFECT!

I was thinking quite a bit lately about just finding a piece of art that I just can't stop looking at. There is most certainly a connection between myself and the image and the more I look the deeper the connection. I get so involved with the image that I imagine the artist painting it, the colors on the palette, the brush stokes the composition, the way my eye moves through the art. Then at some point the image is so imprinted in my mind that I see it with my eyes closed. That is one of the things I love most about looking at art, it becomes a part of me.
I'd be interested in hearing your comments on this and how you connect with a piece of art work.

I'm painting Rise Up on one of the archival gesso boards...it's ok but I like the feel of painting on linen best but stretched canvas is almost as good. Like the way the brush feels on the stretched surface. There's a bounce to it...I think.

That's the latest one! Going to called "Rise Up" when completed
