This fall, the MAH invites you to our annual Día de los Mu***os Celebration. Celebrate and honor Latino cultural heritage through Musical and Dance Performances by Senderos. Throughout the day, we will have hands-on activities, live music, and the powerful presence of community. Explore the MAH to view beautifully crafted altars known as altares, or ofrendas, created by community organizations.

What’s an ecosexual?
It is simply a human that loves the Earth! Perhaps someone that imagines the Earth as a partner, or even a lover, and who acknowledges the sensual pleasures found in nature. Ecosex can be an activist strategy, a mindfulness practice, an art movement, an expanded idea of what sexuality is, and more. Come join the founders of the Ecosex Movement as they present their eco documentary film trilogy and host a game of Ecosex Bingo. The day’s events include tabling, networking, and ecosexy swag for sale. Beth and Annie will sign their book, Assuming the Ecosexual Position—the Earth as Lover. Please join us!

Did you know October is LGBTQIA+ History Month? Did you also know that there are free Q***r history resources available at the MAH?!

In 2022 the MAH received a grant from the California State Library to digitize and archive the LGBTQ+ history in Santa Cruz County. With these funds, we also developed free educational resources for the general public using the collection. We are thrilled to present the MAH Trunks as interactive learning tools that are full of activities for educators to use with students in kindergarten to 12th grade.

Additionally, the MAH launched a Q***rstory Self Guided Walking Tour this past June! The walking tour pamphlets are available for community members to pick up at the museum’s front desk. The tour highlights pivotal locations in the history of the local LGBTQIA+ community. The brochure serves as a personal guide through the streets of downtown, offering a flexible and accessible way to engage with these important local narratives at an individual pace.
